Castle of the Dragon Chapter 2 Walkthrough – Ninja Gaiden 2 Black

Hayabusa Village – Path to Save Point 1:

Begin the second chapter at the entrance of Hayabusa Village. Pass through the vermilion Torii gates, then halt when you reach the end to inspect the initial object that catches your eye: a Notebook titled “Flying Swallow”.

As you proceed towards the tiny cemetery, you’ll meet the initial adversaries of chapter two. These opponents are three agile dual-sword ninjas. Defeat them and take a moment to explore some of the family tombstones for intriguing stories about the Hayabusa clan. Keep moving forward on the main path until you arrive at the next open space. In this enclosed area, you’ll find several dogs wielding swords. These enemies can be quite challenging. To gain an advantage, use a block and counterattack strategy. They are extremely adept at evading attacks, so avoid mindless button-mashing as it will only lead to frustration, especially on higher difficulty settings.

Following your victory over the dogs, it’s crucial that you proceed along the bridge path initially. At the end of this bridge lies a chest, which holds the area’s first ‘Life of the Gods’. Gathering nine of these will boost your maximum health permanently. Prior to obtaining the chest, you’ll encounter a mix of common and claw ninjas. If you require healing or Ki items during your journey, there’s a ‘Shop’ conveniently located near the bridge entrance.

To proceed, walk away from the bridge entrance and circle the buildings’ perimeter. Right before you reach the corner, you’ll spot a scroll called the “Reverse Wind Technique” on a deceased individual. As you round the building to its opposite side, you’ll be surprised by five fundamental ninjas. After overcoming them, carry on moving towards the large flags with targets resembling bullseyes.

As you descend the stairs near the water’s edge, you’ll stumble upon a plant symbolizing spiritual existence on a corpse. Leap directly into the water, and you’ll be instructed to hit the A (or X on PlayStation) key to traverse over the water. Instead of running, dive beneath the surface since a Crystal Skull is hidden under the left side of the bridge. Upon resurfacing, be vigilant for an archer firing at you from a small platform at the opposite end of the water.

First, eliminate the archer, then proceed along the primary route. Towards the peak of the hill, prepare for an ambush by another archer and two dogs. Overpower them, and venture into the courtyard where you’ll find a scroll called “The Counter Attack Technique” on a fallen body. In one corner of this courtyard, you’ll come across your first “Dragon Save Point.”

Or

1. Initially, kill the archer, and advance up the main path. At the top of the incline, watch out for another attack by an archer and two dogs. Once you’ve defeated them, enter the courtyard where you’ll discover a scroll named “The Counter Attack Technique” on a lifeless body. In one corner of this courtyard, you’ll stumble upon your first “Dragon Save Point.

Path to Dragon Save Point 2:

Beginning at the initial respawn spot, ascend the small set of steps and veer to the left side of the substantial structure. Along your path, you’ll notice a series of adversaries in the narrow passageway connecting buildings. Be cautious of the archer stationed at the end of this corridor, as he persists in firing while you engage the aggressive ninjas. Should you remain on the elevated walkway and turn left, you’ll find a door located between two dragon statues. This is the entrance to the Relic Room.

On your initial run of Chapter 2, when you attempt to access the “Relic Vault”, a message will appear saying that the door is tightly secured. At this point, you don’t have the ability to open it because you need to find the key in Chapter 10. Once you’ve obtained the key and replay the chapter, you can then successfully unlock the door.

Though you can’t open the Relic Room just yet, feel free to explore the building opposite instead. Take a u-turn and use the back entrance; inside, you’ll discover a chest brimming with treasures. Among these treasures is an Herb of Spiritual Life, along with the Falcon’s Talons, which are kept at a small shrine nestled in the farthest wall. Upon retrieving the talons, be prepared for an attack as you attempt to leave the area.

Head over to the outer courtyard now, and you’ll encounter three ninjas – two ordinary ones and a peculiar one floating in mid-air, wielding flames. The flame-wielding ninja can be quite bothersome as it has the ability to ignite the ground under Ryu at any instant. Additionally, it will hurl fireballs at Ryu during combat with other adversaries. It would be wise to deal with them promptly.

After we’ve handled these adversaries, you’ll notice the gate leading out from the courtyard start to open. Ascend the stone steps. On the third set of stairs, you’ll run into a group of ninjas coming down. At the summit of the stairs, there are two towers. An archer stands atop one tower, while a chest holding the Herb of Spiritual Life is situated on top of the other.

In this version, I’ve made the sentence structure more conversational and simplified some of the complex phrases for clarity.

As you ascend the next set of stairs, you’ll find yourself repeating the same challenges as before. Approaching the peak, you’ll notice ninjas lying in wait, and there are still two guard towers ahead. This time, however, archers have taken up positions in both towers. Once you’ve navigated past these towers, you’ll reach the second Dragon Save Point. Remember to save your progress and heal before proceeding further.

Path to Dragon Save Point 3:

Starting from the second Dragon Save Spot, navigate through the constricted passageway until it ends. At this point, you’ll have to perform a series of wall jumps back and forth until you ascend to the top. Once you exit, you’ll come across two ordinary ninjas. The only way ahead is up the stairs, where an archer will be waiting. Prior to proceeding onto the wooden platform, don’t forget to grab the “Counter Attack” Notebook off the deceased body.

As you advance on the large wooden platform resembling a deck, expect to come across more archers and basic ninjas. At the end of this structure, proceed along the main path until you spot a chest on the left side of the gate leading to the next area. Inside this chest, you’ll find healing orbs of a bright blue color.

Starting now, you’ll gradually ascend the castle’s foundation. Upon reaching the summit of the initial stone stairs, be cautious as archers are shooting from the murder holes. Hurry through this area and then proceed up towards the slender stone steps. Immediately prior to these steps, don’t forget to grab the Guillotine that lies nearby a discarded scroll on a deceased body. After that, turn left, and you’ll spot a chest at the end of a small nook. This chest holds a Devil’s Way Mushroom, which restores your Ki when consumed.

Head on up the slender staircase leading to the castle’s inner courtyard. There, you’ll encounter a diverse band of adversaries, including dogs, regular ninjas, and those who can hurl flames. Overcome them all, and you’ll find the “Notebook: Ultimate Technique” lying next to a deceased foe near the barred entrance. Proceed by scaling the pile of debris against the wall, which will grant you access to the castle roof.

Up on the rooftop, you’ll meet three ninjas – two with claws and one who wields flames. Once they’re defeated, leap through the burning hole in the roof which leads straight into the castle. This will place you at the murder holes from where archers were firing. Eliminate them, then proceed to the end of the corridor to locate the third Dragon Save Point.

Or more casually:

On top of the building, you’ll run into three ninjas – two with sharp claws and one armed with flames. After defeating them, jump down through the fiery hole in the roof that takes you directly into the castle. You’ll wind up at a spot where archers were previously shooting from. Take care of them, then continue to the end of the hallway to find the third Dragon Save Point.

Chapter 2 Walkthrough Part 2 – Ninja Gaiden 2 Black

How to Get the Fiend’s Bane Bow:

Starting at the third Dragon Save Point, make your way to the far end of the corridor. As you prepare to leave this area, look for a golden statue of a dragon with a head adorning the wall. Upon approaching the head, notice it wields a bow. Move closer and seize the bow from the dragon’s grasp. This is the “Fiend’s Bane Bow,” marking the first ranged weapon you’ll find in “Ninja Gaiden 2 Black.

Inside the Castle of the Dragon – Path to Gyuki:

Starting at the third checkpoint, your mission is to gather the bow first, so the large gate obstructing the main pathway opens up for you. Once you pass through it, you’ll find yourself in a spacious battlefield arena. Here, archers will be positioned along the walls, ready to fire at you. Press and hold RT (or R2) to lock onto targets automatically. After taking care of all the archers, the mid-level boss Gyuki will appear, dropping down from the ceiling.

How to Beat Gyuki:

In essence, Gyuki shares similarities with the Spider Clan leader from Chapter 1. To succeed against it, focus on evading its attacks and launching counterattacks from behind. When you successfully connect, Gyuki will be momentarily stunned, providing an opportunity for retaliation. However, some moves such as the Flying Swallow technique appear to have no effect on Gyuki. Additionally, air-based attacks seem to be less potent against it, so stick to ground-based attacks instead.

In simpler terms, you can effectively respond to Gyuki during a battle. You don’t need to hold back on using your Ninpo because you’ll quickly regenerate your Ki once the fight is over.

After your battle concludes in the arena, take a rightward turn to discover a chest filled with orbs that replenish your Ki energy. Then, turn around and proceed in the opposite direction along the corridor. Upon reaching the stairs, veer right instead of going up, and you’ll stumble upon Grains of Spiritual Life on a deceased body. Continue up the stairs until you reach a screen door; as you draw near, enemies will surge out and assault you.

After taking care of the current situation, proceed to the cul-de-sac, take a right turn, and engage the screens. On your left, you’ll notice Dragon Save Point 4. To your right, there are more stairs. Hiding behind one of those screens is a single ninja.

Path to Save Points 5 & 6:

The next spot to save your game is surprisingly near. Once you’ve saved at the fourth location, make your way up the stairs and engage the screen on the right, located at the top of the stairs. This will lead you onto a balcony overlooking the earlier battlefield with the boss. In this room, you’ll find a large dragon statue in the middle, and platforms to the left and right where additional archers will emerge. Eliminate them, and another platform will descend in the center. Cross over to it, and the mouth of the giant dragon statue will open, providing access inside.

This version maintains the original’s meaning while using simpler sentence structures and more conversational language.

Should you find yourself requiring health, aim your arrows at the big, radiant sphere close to the dragon’s head. A few blue spheres will appear, restoring Ryu’s vitality.

Proceed past the dragon’s jaws, and Dragon Save Point 5 will be waiting for you at the end of the long hallway.

Leaving from the last checkpoint located on the fifth floor, make your way to the rooftop by finding an opening in the wall. On this rooftop, prepare for a fight against both standard and flaming ninjas. Defeat them, then move towards the side of the building. Utilize the rooftop again to navigate to the next level. Upon reaching the upper level, re-enter the castle via the wall opening.

Stepping into this room, I’m immediately met with a hail of arrows from hidden archers. Swiftly draw my bow and eliminate each foe as they present themselves. Be sure to tap RT/R2 to swiftly lock onto targets. Once the archers fall, veer right and spot a tiny hole in the wooden walkway’s floor. Peek inside, and you’ll notice an opening with a ladder leading down to a lower level. Downstairs, you’ll discover a shop nestled at one end of the corridor, and the sixth and final Dragon Save Point waiting for me at the other end.

If you’re out of recovery resources, it would be wise to acquire some now, as they become crucial during the battle against Genshin, the main antagonist in Chapter 2. Particularly effective are Spiritual Life Grains, because Genshin can rapidly deplete your health bar, especially on higher levels of difficulty. These grains fully restore your health, including the critical red portion.

Path to Genshin:

As you move into the latter part of chapter two, make your way up the ladder towards the upper platform. Once you’re there, take a right and you’ll stumble upon a chest. Inside this chest is “Lives of the Thousand Gods,” an item that boosts your maximum health. After climbing the stairs, turn around and proceed past them where you’ll discover a deceased individual with a “Life of the Gods” orb on their person. If you retrace your steps in the opposite direction, a cutscene will start as soon as you reach the end of the path.

How to Beat Genshin in Ninja Gaiden 2 Black:

Preparing for a battle against Genshin can give the impression that it will be more challenging than it appears. Similar to Gyuki, maintaining your composure and employing dodging techniques along with counters would be wise, as this approach gradually depletes his health. The heavy-attack counter is particularly potent because it enables a subsequent strike before Genshin regains balance.

In Genshin, keep an eye out for his potent ranged assault. When you notice the air around his fists swirling and forming into an energy sphere, be ready to evade. You’ll get a brief opportunity to counterattack, catching Genshin off guard. Also, remember that blocking is essential for Ryu, so use it wisely!

In Genshin Impact, each strike inflicts significantly higher damage compared to other games. Keep a close watch on your health meter as it can drop drastically fast. This is the perfect moment to employ your healing items. Contrarily, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black offers an extremely beneficial healing system where time effectively pauses when you open the item menu, so don’t hesitate to use your recovery items.

In case of your passing, there’s no requirement for you to employ the Talisman. Instead, you can pick up where you left off, at the last save point, which is very near the game’s conclusion.
