In the realm of Black Clover, there’s an abundance of potent mages. Each Magic Knight squad boasts exceptional individuals whose magical abilities rival those of many ordinary mages. For instance, Yuno from the Golden Dawn, Asta from the Black Bull, and Mereoleona from the Crimson Lion are some examples. Notably, each Magic Knight captain possesses the power to overpower an entire town single-handedly. Therefore, it’s clear that Black Clover is brimming with powerful mages.
In the realm I’ve been observing, it’s clear that none of these mighty magic knights stand a chance against the Supreme Demons, or as they’re infamously known, the Qliphoth Demons, due to their direct link to the Tree of Qliphoth. Alone, they are formidable adversaries, capable of toppling entire nations. It’s intriguing to note that in this world of Black Clover, there are eight recognized Supreme Demons, each possessing a unique strength level. Given this, let me present the most powerful demons in Black Clover, arranged according to their potency.
9. Adramelech
The Demon Who Sees Everything
- First Appearance: Chapter 317
- Magic Attribute: Unknown
Adremelech, one of the most powerful devils, dwells in the Underworld’s nearly lowest tier. Typically, demons living deeper in the Underworld are more potent, so his residence on the second-to-last level underscores his immense power.
Adramelech is currently ranked low in this power list primarily because he hasn’t demonstrated his abilities yet. So far, he appears to be a laid-back demon who’s content to assist Astaroth with his nefarious schemes. Instead of engaging directly in combat, he seems to prefer observing from afar. Given that Black Clover appears to be approaching its final stages, we may soon witness Adramelech demonstrating his power more prominently.
8. Nahamah
The Demon Who Burns All
- First Appearance: Chapter 279
- Magic Attribute: Demon Fire Magic
In the anime “Black Clover,” Nahamah and Lilith are introduced as the initial supreme demons. They dwell within the lowermost stratum of the netherworld. Although there’s no evidence suggesting they are twins or siblings, their behavior strongly implies a close relationship.
Apart from an extraordinary physical strength that surpasses many humans, Nahamah wields the potent Demon Fire Magic. This fire exceeds the intensity of any conventional magic fire, capable of consuming everything from solid structures in and around the Spade Kingdom to ethereal constructs like Nacht’s shadow prison.
7. Lilith
The Demon Who Freezes All
- First Appearance: Chapter 279
- Magic Attribute: Demon Ice Magic
As a folklore aficionado, I’ve come to notice an intriguing similarity between Nahamah and Lilith, despite their distinct demonic powers. These entities seem to share a common character: a delight in torment and entertainment. They both revel in the chaos they create, finding great amusement in watching their victims writhe in agony.
With her mastery over Demon Ice Magic, Lilith has the ability to freeze anything, even immaterial entities such as light and shadow. Yet, the real might of Lilith and Nahama is unveiled when they merge into a singular demon. In this merged state, they can discharge demonic fire from their left side and wield the power of demonic ice from their right side.
6. Baal
The Demon Who Rules the Sky
- First Appearance: Chapter 365
- Magic Attribute: Air Magic
Different from Lilith and Nahamah, Baal doesn’t have an opportunity to physically appear in the human world. Unlike Megicula’s devil union or the summoning ritual used with Lilith and Nahamah, we don’t witness Baal in a direct manner. Instead, our encounter with Baal is through Lucius Zogratis/Astaroth infusing his spirit into a magical knight named Damnatio Kira, thereby creating a unique entity called the Paladin.
Baal’s mastery in Air Magic surpasses ordinary Air Magic, encompassing abilities like air blasts and air barriers. Beyond that, he possesses an advanced form known as Atmosphere Magic. With this, he has the power to manipulate air pressure intensely, potentially causing his target to implode, all without making a move himself.
5. Lucifugus
The Demon Who Carved Space
- First Appearance: Chapter 286
- Magic Attribute: Dark Magic
In the climax of the tale, a powerful demon named Lucifugus makes an appearance. It’s significant because Lucius performs a ritual to cleanse Lucifugus’s spirit and then transfers it into a magical warrior known as Morgan Faust, resulting in a unique entity called the Paladins. During certain flashback sequences of Nacht, we catch glimpses of Lucifugus’s shadowy outline. However, our full encounter with Lucifugus is limited to observing him as the Paladin character.
In simpler terms, Lucifugus has dominion over a formidable variant of dark magic, which in many aspects surpasses Yami Sukehiro’s dark magic in power. A key feature of this dark magic that Lucifugus frequently employs to cause destruction is its ability to manipulate gravity. This allows Lucifugus to draw objects towards him and even consume everything in his path, or if desired, sculpt space itself.
4. Megicula
The Demon Who Inflicts Curses
- First Appearance: Chapter 222
- Magic Attribute: Curse-Warding Magic
Three supreme demons govern the heart of the Underworld: Beelzebub, Astaroth, and Lucifero initially held these positions. However, an unusual turn of events occurred when Astaroth mysteriously disappeared. In her absence, Magicula was chosen to take on this esteemed role. Although she wasn’t part of the original trio, Magicula being accepted as Astaroth’s replacement showcases her immense power within the Underworld, making her one of its most powerful demons.
Megicula’s magic is referred to as the Magic of Cursed Protections. This power allows her to generate all sorts of curses and affix them to any entity, whether tangible or intangible, such as spells. Her curses have the ability to destroy a human body in mere seconds, but they can also be used for healing purposes, helping Megicula recover from injuries.
3. Beelzebub
The Demon Who Commands Space
- First Appearance: Chapter 238
- Magic Attribute: Spatial Magic
In the realm I’ve been observing, I’ve come across a significant figure known as Beelzebub, who holds sway among the Underworld’s three supreme rulers. Prior to his pivotal role in Lucius’ Paladins during the climactic series, he forged an alliance and bestowed his power upon Zenon Zogratis, a member of the Spade Kingdom’s shadowy council, the Dark Triads.
Beelzebub excels in Spatial Magic, a skill that enables him to bridge gaps between distant locations, similar to other users of this magic. Yet, unlike many others, his favorite application is crafting a unique space. This space not only captures adversaries but also empowers him to command all elements within it, including the very mana itself. No one can gain entry or exit this space without Beelzebub’s consent, and he maintains absolute control over everything inside.
2. Astaroth
The Demon Who Bends Time
- First Appearance: Chapter 331
- Magic Attribute: Time Magic
Astaroth used to be one of the three leaders in the Underworld until he disappeared, with Megicula taking over his position. The reason for his disappearance was that he made a deal with Lucious Zogratis and another character known as the Wizard King Julius Novachrono. This is why Julius has access to Astaroth’s unique magical ability, Time Magic.
As an adept in Time Manipulation, Astaroth wields a powerful ability to bend and mold time according to his desires. Pausing, slowing, speeding up, or even establishing a unique realm where he governs the temporal flow of specific targets is within his grasp. The extent of this magic’s potential is vast; he can even hasten time, causing an object to disintegrate into dust instantly upon touch. Such is the terrifying might of Time Manipulation.
1. Lucifero
The King of Demons
- First Appearance: Chapter 243
- Magic Attribute: Gravity Magic
Despite being among the three leaders of the Underworld, Lucifero occupies a position superior to Astaroth and Beelzebub. This is due to his immense reserve of mana and magical energy coursing through him, granting him greater power compared to the other two. Consequently, Lucifero is revered as the King of Demons.
Delighted by the opportunity, I forged an agreement with the ancient member of the Dark Triad, Dante Zogratis, enabling him to wield the unique Gravity Magic once associated with Lucifero himself. This enchanting magic allows a user to amplify the weight of their target, making them immobile, while simultaneously becoming so light that I could float effortlessly in the heavens above. At its pinnacle, this Gravity Magic can generate a miniature black hole capable of consuming everything in its wake, or it can be summoned to devour anything nearby.
In a debate, it’s often agreed that Astaroth is a more skilled warrior than Lucifero, considering both his combat skills and strategic prowess. However, when it comes to raw magical power, Lucifero outshines Astaroth significantly. The reason for Lucifero’s defeat in the series was due to him not being able to fight at full strength. If he had unleashed every ounce of his immense mana reserve, the Demon King in Black Clover would have obliterated anyone who dared oppose him, making Lucifero the most powerful demon in the series.
