Summary
- Reddit user designs dual-type Eeveelution, dividing Pokemon fans’ opinions.
- Eevee fanart inspiration comes from digging for bugs, evolving underground.
- Artist known for creating various Eevee evolutions; Squirmeon not top pick.
A devoted Pokemon enthusiast has devised a unique Eeveelution, transforming the creature into both a Bug and Ground-type. This innovative spin on Eevee’s evolutions is intriguing because Eevee doesn’t typically undergo dual-type evolutions. However, what truly sets this creation apart is its appearance, sparking debate among Pokemon fans about its design.
Since Pokemon introduced various evolutions and forms such as Gigantamax, regional forms, paradox Pokemon, and more, it’s understandable that fans would take up this concept and expand upon it. However, even before these unique variants were introduced, Eevee had already distinguished itself by having multiple evolutions at its disposal. As a result, Eevee has become one of the most beloved Pokemon to develop new evolutions for, as demonstrated in this latest example.
Reddit user In-ProgressPokemon recently posted some fresh fan art featuring Eevee as a Bug/Ground-type Pokemon. Dubbed Squirmeon due to its bug-influenced design, this dual-type evolution sports a predominantly brown body with captivating blue eyes and a muddy appearance. What has many fans buzzing is the presence of segmented insects resembling worms adorning its limbs, neck, and even the tip of its tail, which appears like a massive grub. Some viewers have been taken aback by this design, while others find it irresistibly cute.
Artist Explains Eeveelution’s New Appearance
ProgressPokemon has written a story about Eevee’s origin, suggesting that if an Eevee spends much time digging for bugs underground, it could evolve into Squirmeon. This hypothetical evolution would be excellent at burrowing and spend most of its life hidden under the earth. The mud-like appearance is due to this constant burrowing, and its blue eyes suggest poor vision from spending so much time in darkness. Moreover, Squirmeon can store nutrients in its worm-like body parts, which it can use when needed during emergencies.
Although opinions about this specific Eeveelution can vary, the fan artist is accustomed to crafting Eevee designs that have garnered more positive responses. In-ProgressPokemon has often shared Eevee fanart featuring dual-type Eevelutions and comes up with innovative concepts for them. Given that Eevee hasn’t evolved into a new form in quite some time, fans might be eager to see one of this artist’s designs come to life. That being said, Squirmeon may not rank highest among the artist’s creations.
