In the realm of contemporary video games, parrying has become a crucial element that elevates combat with its tactical finesse. However, when I dive into Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist, I can’t help but miss this aspect, especially after playing for a couple of hours. Considering Lilac, our protagonist, is not primarily a fighter but an Attuner who wields Homunculi powers, it seems reasonable that parrying wouldn’t be integral to her combat style.
Bloom in the Mist. In this tutorial, we’ll guide you through the process of acquiring the Shackled Beast’s Counter ability.
Obtaining Shackled Beast’s Counter (Parry Ability) in Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist
In my gaming journey through “Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist“, I’ve come across a challenging boss known as the Shackled Beast. To unlock its Counter ability, you’ll have to triumph over this formidable foe, the Shackled Beast boss. This powerful adversary stands as the main boss of the Tethered Steeple region and is crucial for progressing through the main story. The exact position of the Shackled Beast in the sequence of battles depends on whether you choose to venture into the Tethered Steeple right after defeating Yolvan, the Black-Winger Huntsman in Old City – Lower Steeple, or if you explore other areas first. Either way, it’s one tough fight!
The entrance to Forest Barrier lies near where the Shackled Beast boss resides. Unlike Yolvan, this boss doesn’t have separate phases, but he packs a powerful punch with each strike, making it essential to adopt a more defensive playstyle. His attack pattern is remarkably aggressive and tougher than anything you’ve encountered so far.
How to Beat Shackled Beast in Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist
The Shackled Beast packs quite a punch, but don’t be fooled by its power; defeating it isn’t overly challenging because its moveset is straightforward. With practice, you can predict its attack sequences, making it simpler to dodge most of its blows by staying out of its way.
Shackled Beast’s Main Attacks
- Chain Swing: The boss swings a massive chain in a wide AOE around him twice. Alternatively, he can launch the chain forward at the end of the swing.
- Chain Slam: Shackled Beast quickly spins his chain and slams it on the ground in front of him, creating a shockwave where the chain lands.
- Charge: Shackled Beast lowers himself and charges forward, attempting to skewer you. He is invincible while charging.
- Summon Chain: Once a quarter of the boss’s HP remains, he will add the Summon Chain attack to his arsenal. Shackled Beast jumps up and slams down at the center of the arena, summoning diagonal chains from the ground that travel outward.
When you encounter the Shackled Beast, make sure you possess a minimum of three Homunculi Abilities. If you’ve previously delved into the Magicite Mine prior to reaching the Tethered Steeples, then you ought to have Muninn at your disposal as well.
In this battle, consider changing Nola’s weapon to the Vanquisher. Lito’s Glacial Fist could also be beneficial, as it can cause the Freezing status to the opponent in the upcoming fight.
In the Shackled Beast battle, it’s best to keep yourself as much as you can behind the boss. Once he initiates the Chain Swing Attack, be sure to retreat promptly. Employ Lito’s Glacial Fist to inflict some harm, and if the boss whips out a chain, dart aside swiftly to lessen the risk of getting hurt.
In the Chain Slam attack, there’s no need for worry as long as you keep your position behind the boss. If the Shackled Beast rushes towards you, quickly jump twice and dash to the opposite side to dodge its attack.
Avoiding the Summon Chain attack is quite manageable. When the boss leaps toward the stage’s center, swiftly move to the screen’s perimeter to dodge it. Later on, you can quickly dash towards the boss to land a few strikes before it concludes.
How Does the Shackled Beast’s Counter Work
Just as with other Homunculus skills, players need to have the Shackled Beast’s Counter ready from its resting place in order to utilize it. This skill comes in three different forms:
- Chain Whip: Press the ability button as the enemy attack lands to nullify it and counter with a spinning chain dealing damage to enemies within range.
- Charge: Press the ability button as the enemy attack lands to nullify it and counter with a lunging attack directed straight ahead.
- Benumbed Howl: Press the ability button as the enemy attack lands to nullify it and counter with a piercing howl that deals massive damage.
Benumbed Howl doesn’t deal any Break Damage but has the largest AOE.
In the game “Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist“, The Shackled Beast’s Counter is the initial parry ability players encounter. As you advance, you will come across Grimoires, which can be used to buy Carapace items from the Craftory. After acquiring a few Grimoire, retrace your steps to the Old City Market and check the updated shop inventory. These items can block enemy attacks when equipped, although they don’t provide as much counter damage as The Shackled Beast’s Counter does.
