Rockfish Games unveiled a substantial expansion for their game Everspace 2, which they’re referring to as “Wrath of the Ancients.
According to the team announcement, Wrath of the Ancients is set to arrive on PC platforms like Steam and GOG, as well as on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. The anticipated release date for this game is “later this spring”.
Check out the reveal trailer, below:
In a fresh narrative that unfolds following EVERSPACE 2’s events, players will take command of a novel spacecraft to confront alien adversaries and age-old perils. Catastrophic assaults on human colonies in Cluster 34 have disrupted political factions and left survivors stranded. The fragile truce between humans and the Okkar is at risk—intrepid space pilots will delve into the Okkar Homeworlds to uncover the origins of the threat, preventing another war from erupting in the DMZ.
During the happenings of Wrath of the Ancients, warp gates were opened to four additional star systems that could be fully explored, among them the Okkar homeland and Aethon. This expansion within Cluster 34 brings even more mysteries to uncover. These new star systems are brimming with fresh adversaries, weapons, and equipment waiting to be found.
Michael Schade, CEO and co-founder of Rockfish Games, shared that our community is eager to delve into Aethon, and it won’t be long now! Everspace 2: Wrath of the Ancients significantly broadens the universe of the Everspace series. This expansion offers pilots additional star systems to traverse, new adversaries to confront, and a novel ship that alters gameplay dynamics. Those excited about uncovering more of Cluster 34 have much to anticipate. Schade also mentioned that they will be unveiling various features of Wrath of the Ancients on their social media platforms and live streams over the next few months. So, keep your space suits on and stay tuned, pilots!
In our console evaluation of the game, we stated that there are numerous tasks to accomplish, such as collecting items for diverse characters, probing enigmatic signals, engaging in combat with raiders, and much more. Everspace 2 on consoles offers all the elements presented in the PC version, but it provides a deeper immersion due to the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of the PS5. If you didn’t get a chance to play it in April, it’s definitely worth your investment if you enjoy space battles and have an appreciation for its sophisticated loot system that allows you to continuously customize your build, discover new ships, and experience a control system that is delightful to use.
Everspace 2 is out now for PlayStation, Xbox, and on PC.
