If you’re new to this game, here’s a simple explanation: It’s a role-playing game (RPG) that takes place during the Bakumatsu era. In this game, you play as a wandering samurai, shaping your own journey. The story offers different conclusions based on your choices, allowing you to pick which side to back – whether it’s the anti-shogunate group, pro-shogunate group, or Western forces. Your decision will have a major impact on how the story unfolds.
On March 22, 2024, the release of Rise of the Ronin received generally favorable feedback, culminating in a robust “Strong” rating on OpenCritic.
As a gamer, I must admit that Rise of the Ronin has been quite an impressive journey for me. While it had its bumps along the way, the game’s progression from its predecessors is nothing short of astonishing. It manages to keep the loot-focused Soulslike elements, but it reinvents itself as a captivating action-RPG that truly immerses you in its richly crafted world, characters, and player-driven storyline.
Besides working on Rise of the Ronin, Team Ninja is also developing a new installment within the Ninja Gaiden series – specifically, Ninja Gaiden 4. This game is being produced in collaboration with PlatinumGames.
