Pokemon TCG Pocket Issues Urgent Warning: Are You at Risk?

Summary

  • Pokemon TCG Pocket has issued a warning to players against “inappropriate conduct,” like trades involving real money.
  • Some fans speculate the notice suggests a crackdown on the so-called practice of Wonder Pick farming.
  • Pokemon TCG Pocket may also be warning players against trying to offer trade opportunities once trading is added to the game on January 28.

The Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket has cautioned players about behaving in an unacceptable manner, particularly regarding cheating in any form. It appears that this advisory might be related to their upcoming trade function, the method of Wonder Pick farming, or possibly a combination of both, as they are scheduled to roll out soon.

Launched jointly by DeNA and Creatures Inc. in October 2024, Pokemon TCG Pocket was met with tremendous success. Contrary to its title, the game initially lacked the ability to trade cards among players. However, this feature was later announced to become available starting from January 28.

One day prior to enabling trading, DeNA issued a warning to Pokemon TCG Pocket players about unacceptable actions that breach the game’s terms of service. Examples given by the developer include trading with real money and manipulating data. If any player is found guilty of violating Pokemon TCG Pocket’s terms of service, they may receive a warning, have their account suspended, or face further action. According to the in-game notification issued on January 27, DeNA maintains a strict policy against cheating and actions that breach its terms of service to ensure a fair gaming environment where everyone can play safely and comfortably.

Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Inappropriate Conduct Warning

Pokemon TCG Pocket May Be Cracking Down on Wonder Pick Farming

The warning seems vague but some fans speculate it could be a sign of stricter enforcement against an alleged activity known as “Wonder Pick farming.” This strategy involves creating multiple new accounts to open Pokemon TCG Pocket god packs and then selling the friend codes to individuals looking for a guaranteed rare card selection. Using third parties for friend code transactions is clearly against the game’s rules. Yet, it’s uncertain if DeNA intends to penalize only sellers, buyers, or both parties involved in this practice.

An announcement made in late January could also be seen as a caution against offering card sales once the trading feature becomes available. Yet, this practice might not gain as much traction as Wonder Pick farming due to the fact that the initial trading version of Pokemon TCG Pocket will have strict limitations, making it impossible for players to swap the game’s three rarest and most sought-after card categories.

To review the terms and conditions for playing Pokemon TCG Pocket, navigate to the home screen menu, select ‘Other’, then pick ‘Terms of Use’. The agreement outlines that changes to their Terms of Service (ToS) can be made at any point without prior notice – a common approach within the gaming industry. At present, it seems there’s no indication of an impending clampdown on inappropriate behavior within Pokemon TCG Pocket.
