Summary
- World Trigger manga faces another delay due to the author’s health, pushing the hiatus to at least March.
- Series, initially in Shonen Jump, moved to Jump SQ in 2019, offering monthly releases to aid author preparation.
- Frequent hiatuses led to delayed anime seasons, but Toei may be waiting for manga completion to continue adaption.
Fans of World Trigger may need to be patient for a while longer, since the story has been paused yet again, taking a brief break before continuing.
The manga “World Trigger” gained widespread popularity upon its debut in “Shonen Jump” in 2013, however, due to frequent pauses since 2016, the series has experienced an on-and-off release pattern. Later, it was relocated to “Jump SQ,” a monthly publication.
In December 2024, it was declared that the series wouldn’t introduce a new chapter in the January issue of Jump SQ. Instead, the break has been prolonged to the February issue (also known as the Jump SQ March Special Edition). The series is expected to resume in March, but there might be another extension of the hiatus based on Ashihara’s health status.
The series will take a break in the March issue of Jump SQ, scheduled for release on February 4th (Tuesday), because the author is not well enough to continue working.
We apologize to all the readers who are eagerly looking forward to the next chapter.
The continuation of the series will start in the April Special Edition of Jump SQ, which goes on sale on March 4th. I appreciate your patience.

World Trigger Previous Hiatuses
World Trigger frequently takes breaks, with several instances linked to creator Daisuke Ashihara’s health. Intriguingly, fans maintain “break trackers” as a means of staying informed about whether the storyline is currently paused.
From 2014 to 2016, there were several short breaks, each lasting about a week. However, the longest break occurred from late 2016 to the end of 2018. In the year 2019, it was transferred to Jump SQ, which might have been done to provide Ashihara with additional time to prepare chapters since Jump SQ is a monthly publication.
After that point, there have been occasional breaks in the series, but these typically span just a single issue. It’s not always the case that these interruptions stem from the author’s health issues. Although there have been multiple pauses, the specific nature of any health problems the author might be dealing with remains undisclosed, even if some speculate that all breaks are related to the same condition.
Is World Trigger Anime Still On The Cards?
The animated version of this series was produced by Toei Animation back in 2014. It was a hit show at the time, with some believing it could be a defining work for the magazine Jump. Unfortunately, there was a two-year gap before new seasons were released, and Seasons 2 and 3 didn’t air until 2021 and 2022 respectively.
Due to the impact these pauses seem to have on the manga’s fame, Toei Animation might no longer be keen on adapting the remaining part of the story. Yet, considering the frequent interruptions, it’s also plausible that the studio is biding their time, hoping for the manga to conclude so they can adapt the entire tale in one go.
World Trigger is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
