Despite no official announcement about who might portray the legendary character Wonder Woman in the new DC Universe, a captivating piece of fan art depicts David Corenswet’s Superman standing side by side with a possible contender for the role of the Amazonian heroine.

James Gunn’s version of the DC Universe is preparing to captivate audiences with its first film, Superman, slated for release in July 2025. Although Gunn and Peter Saffran are working hard to get all projects approved to enhance viewer enjoyment, no updates have been given about Wonder Woman joining this universe. Consequently, no actress has been chosen for the role as of now. However, fans have shared their preferred choices, and one of those is Eiza González. Recently, a piece of fan art has depicted González as Diana Prince, suggesting her as Wonder Woman in an impressive and commanding appearance that has ignited enthusiasm on social media.

As a follower, I recently shared my imaginative take on who could portray Wonder Woman in the DC Universe. Specifically, I envisioned the talented actress Eiza González stepping into the role, standing alongside Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman.

To illustrate this, I cleverly used photos from a photo shoot they both did for Hugo Boss. In those images, you can see Hoechlin wearing the iconic blue and red Superman suit, posing casually for the camera. Meanwhile, González is depicted in the classic Wonder Woman costume, casually resting her hand on Hoechlin’s shoulder.

Interestingly, González is seen donning a version of the swimsuit-like Wonder Woman costume that has been used frequently in comics. In a recent episode of Creature Commandos, viewers got a glimpse of Circe’s vision, showing Diana Prince in a similar costume to the one I envision for González. This hints that the DC Universe might introduce a live-action version of Princess of Themyscira wearing the same dress.

It’s intriguing to consider whether Gunn thinks González could be an excellent fit for the role of Wonder Woman in the DC Universe. Notably, González came very close to bagging the role of Catwoman in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, but ultimately lost it to Zoe Kravitz. Despite being disappointed about not getting to play Catwoman, González expressed that taking on a character like Wonder Woman might not be an option for her. In an interview with Comicbook.com, the actress shared her enthusiasm about participating in a superhero project and would gladly accept a role like Wonder Woman if offered. Yet, she made it clear that she’d be content to watch someone else bring the character to life on screen.

As the new DC Universe arises, the role of Wonder Woman is being handed over, symbolizing the conclusion of Gal Gadot’s memorable portrayal of the character, much like Henry Cavill’s exit as Superman. During this shift, a strong fan movement has been urging for González to be considered for the part of Wonder Woman. If this fan-led momentum gathers enough force before casting starts, it could pave the way for González to become a part of the DC Universe, potentially earning her a chance to embody the Amazonian warrior. The actress has demonstrated her acting prowess in projects like “Baby Driver”, “Ambulance”, and “3 Body Problems”, and it would be exciting to see her bring a powerful character like Wonder Woman to life.
