During a livestream for Act 1 of Episode Heresy, game developer Bungie unveiled an exciting collaboration between Destiny 2 and the Star Wars universe. This partnership will introduce fresh armor and cosmetic items to the game, thrilling fans of Destiny 2. The day was momentous as Bungie finally revealed the first act of Episode Heresy and the much-anticipated return of the Dreadnaught.
Before Bungie’s livestream, they had been revealing various sandbox updates for Destiny 2, scheduled to go live on February 4 with Episode Heresy. Although they kept the storyline and gameplay mechanics secret, fans got glimpses of ability adjustments, a major revamp for Trials of Osiris, and an impressive boost for one Destiny 2 exotic weapon. However, the livestream provided more details, such as the new Nether activity, weapons, and a unique collaboration.
During Bungie’s January 28 broadcast, it was officially disclosed that Destiny 2’s most recent partnership is with the iconic Star Wars universe. The main feature of this unveiling was the introduction of three distinct armor sets, one for each class. Starting from February 4, when Episode Heresy launches, Hunters will have access to the Covert Ranger Set, reminiscent of Death Troopers. Warlocks can acquire the Royal Protector Set, modeled after Imperial Royal Guard. Lastly, Titans will receive the Shock Enforcer Set, a clear homage to classic Stormtrooper armor.
Destiny 2 Adding Star Wars Cosmetics During Episode Heresy
Though armor sets might be the main highlight for many fans regarding this collaboration, there’s more to discover. For instance, gamers can acquire a unique ghost shell that transforms it into a replica of the second Death Star from “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi”, equipped with a small green laser. As expected, acquiring these items will require using Silver, Destiny 2’s premium currency, instead of Bright Dust.
In recent times, collaborations have significantly expanded in Destiny 2’s premium content. Although it may not rival other live service games like Fortnite in terms of collaboration scale, Bungie has already teamed up with numerous IPs and franchises to incorporate cosmetics and armor sets into the game. In fact, the latest crossover for Destiny 2 was with Street Fighter 6, introducing a Blanka helmet, Ghost Shells inspired by Ryu, Chun-li, and Cammy, finishers, an emote referencing one of their classic mini-games, among other things.
