There’s been plenty of chatter among fans about the possibility of a remake for Resident Evil Zero, which was initially launched in 2022 and acted as a prequel to the entire franchise. Despite having its flaws, the idea of revisiting it with fresh eyes is intriguing. However, Capcom has not yet confirmed plans for such a remake, so all speculation surrounding the project remains unofficial until officially acknowledged by the developers.
It’s worth noting that the latest buzz about Resident Evil Zero suggests it might be in line for a remake. Dusk Golem, a well-known leaker, has hinted that the game is “still being worked on.” Though this news is intriguing, it’s essential to approach it with caution until Capcom officially confirms the project. Among the Resident Evil series, Zero stands out as a strong candidate for a remake due to its intriguing prequel plot that, regrettably, didn’t fully blossom in its original form.
Resident Evil Zero Deserves to Be the Franchise’s Next Big Remake
RE0 Has A Strong Opening That Gets Derailed
In the world of Resident Evil, the debut of Resident Evil Zero stands out significantly, despite being a source of debate among fans. The Ecliptic Express, owned by Umbrella Corporation, becomes the target of a horde of leeches carrying the deadly T-Virus. S.T.A.R.S. member Rebecca Chambers and death row inmate Billy Coen encounter this infected train, setting events into motion. However, critics argue that the narrative loses steam following such an engaging introduction. Therefore, a remake of Resident Evil Zero could rectify its story flaws while enhancing an opening sequence that is already widely praised as one of the game’s highlights.
Leaks and rumors have also suggested that Resident Evil – Code: Veronica could be getting a remake.
Bringing Resident Evil’s Body Horror to New Heights
Over the years, the grisly visuals of the Resident Evil series have undeniably stepped up their game, particularly during this modern era. In RE7, I’ve seen some straight-up grotesque transformations within the Baker household that made my skin crawl. And let me tell you, the giant baby scene in House Beneviento in Village nearly had me jumping out of my seat!
One key antagonist encountered in the game “Resident Evil Zero” is Mimicry Marcus. This creature is formed when smaller leeches merge to take on a twisted shape resembling James Marcus. Although Mimicry Marcus might not be the scariest enemy in today’s gameplay, considering the horrors portrayed in “RE7” and “Village”, it could become truly terrifying if its design and details were updated to match those games’ terrifying elements. This revamped version of Mimicry Marcus could lead to something genuinely dreadful.
As a dedicated Resident Evil fan, I must say that playing Resident Evil Zero was an exciting experience due to its intriguing prequel storyline. However, despite the initial promise, it didn’t quite live up to its full potential.
Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen Are an Underrated Duo
At present, “Resident Evil Zero” stands alone as the game centered around Rebecca. Although she has made appearances throughout the series, her strong character merits revisiting, particularly with Billy Coen by her side. Initially an uneasy partnership, it evolves into a solid one, and updating their dynamic could enhance the narrative flow. The “Resident Evil” franchise is known for its memorable duos, but Rebecca’s prodigious abilities and Billy Coen’s past as a wrongfully accused murderer offer a distinctive dynamic that remains largely unexplored.
In the game titled “Resident Evil Zero“, Rebecca Chambers serves as a field medic for the Special Tactics and Rescue Service (S.T.A.R.S.). Being only 18 years old upon graduating college, she is the most youthful and latest addition to the group.
The enduring history of the popular series, Resident Evil, has given us countless jumps and intricate narratives tainted by corporate misconduct. As Capcom continues to roll out new installments alongside refreshed versions of classic titles, it seems nearly certain that a revamped version of Resident Evil Zero is on its way. While we can’t be sure until time reveals the answer, there’s a compelling argument for placing this game next in the series.
