Sony is enhancing gameplay advantages for PC adaptations of titles such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, God of War Ragnarok, and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered for users with a PlayStation Network account. Over the last few years, Sony has been aggressively moving to make some of its top PlayStation exclusives accessible to a broader PC audience, and this trend intensified in 2024. Although the initial version of Horizon Zero Dawn was converted to Windows in 2020, the revamped Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered appeared on both PS5 and PC platforms as recently as October. Simultaneously, God of War Ragnarok, which was a popular release in 2022, became available on PC in September.

The trend of bringing PlayStation games to PC will persist until 2025, as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (initially launched on PS5 in October 2023) is set to debut on PC on January 30. Also, the PS5 remaster of The Last of Us Part 2 from last year will become available on Windows on April 3, joining its precursor. These PC versions come with advanced technical improvements for high-end computer users. Sony has been winning back gamers by abandoning the PlayStation Network account requirement that previously caused issues in some of their previous PC releases.

It’s possible that owning a PSN account could still provide advantages when playing PC versions of games, since Sony has stated they are developing extra content and perks for PSN users. For instance, if you log into your PSN account while playing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC, you’ll gain access to two unique suits: the Spider-Man 2099 Black Suit for Peter Parker and Miles Morales’s 2099 Suit. Similarly, players of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will have the option to wear the Nora Valiant outfit right from the start.

Meanwhile, those playing “The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered” can earn 50 points to access bonus features and extras, plus dress Ellie in Jordan’s Jacket from Naughty Dog’s upcoming PS5 title “Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

Sony plans to collaborate with creators from PlayStation Studios, aiming to offer additional benefits for PC users who decide to log into their PlayStation Network accounts while playing the newest PC adaptations. Previously, the necessity of a PSN account for these versions sparked criticism among gamers because the service wasn’t accessible in all regions. However, these newly disclosed rewards are likely to continue being contentious due to this reason. Nevertheless, fans who possess a PSN account can anticipate some extra benefits when Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and The Last of Us Part 2 debut on PC.
