One of the world’s most renowned manga series, “Kingdom,” which has yet to receive an official English release, is set to change this soon. As per a retail site listing, the second volume of Kingdom is expected to hit shelves on December 16th, 2025. This listing also indicates that Viz Media will be responsible for publishing Kingdom volume.
Last week, the official account (previously known as Twitter) belonging to Viz Media hinted at a major revelation. The presence of the post strongly suggests that the English adaptation of Kingdom will be among the announcements.
Kingdom’s English Release Announcement Could Be Postponed
Unfortunately, there may be a delay in the announcement as Viz Media’s official account has been compromised by scammers. Following the hack, the entire timeline of the account was flooded with cryptocurrency-related tweets and links, which could potentially harm anyone who clicks on them.
As I write this, Viz Media hasn’t issued any formal announcement regarding the present situation of their X (previously Twitter) account. But, fans can anticipate some news within the next few days.
The Greatest General Will Conquer The West
The manga “Kingdom” is penned by Yasuhisa Hara. It started being published in the Weekly Young Jump magazine on January 26th, 2006. To date, a grand total of 74 volumes have been published, which places it among the longest-running manga series. In a statement from 2015, Yasuhisa Hara expressed his intention to expand the series up to 100 volumes.
The reliability of the Kingdom series has played a significant role in its success. Fans have been devoted followers for years, contributing to its continuous sales. Recently, it was reported that the Kingdom manga has surpassed 110 million copies sold, making it one of the most successful titles ever. With the upcoming English release, it’s expected that this number will continue to rise and potentially outshine other popular works.
The animated adaptation of “Kingdom” has faced considerable backlash, with the first season drawing criticism for its uneven pacing, omission of crucial storylines, and excessive use of CGI. Although improvements were noted in the second season, much work was still required. To address these concerns, Studio Pierrot collaborated with their subsidiary, Studio Signpost, to produce seasons three, four, and five. This collaboration has earned praise from fans, who are eagerly anticipating that future seasons will be handled similarly. Recently, news about the sixth season of “Kingdom” has been announced.
Kingdom anime is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
