The initial release of “Mortal Kombat 1″ in September 2023 was generally well-received, and its post-launch plan looked promising due to an exciting roster of DLC characters such as Omni-Man, Homelander, and Peacemaker. However, the journey since then hasn’t been entirely smooth sailing.
Initially, Mortal Kombat 1’s first Kombat Pack was well-received, but during periods between DLC character releases, it faced criticism, particularly for its subpar seasonal content and some controversial microtransaction incidents. Despite these issues, the developer NetherRealm continued with their plans to launch a significant story expansion and more DLC characters. Now, four months later, Mortal Kombat 1 is on the verge of introducing its final DLC fighter, T-1000 from Terminator 2. As for when this fighter will be released, no official date has been announced yet, but some potential release dates are emerging.
When Mortal Kombat 1’s T-1000 Could Release
What Past Mortal Kombat 1 DLC Release Patterns Have Looked Like
In two months following the launch of Mortal Kombat 1, its first Kombat Pack started releasing content. On November 9, 2023, Invincible’s Omni-Man was unveiled, and Quan Chi followed suit on December 14, only five weeks later. A gap in new DLC fighters for Mortal Kombat 1 occurred, as Peacemaker encountered unexpected delays at the beginning of 2024. However, the DC anti-hero eventually joined the fray on February 28, approximately 11 weeks after Quan Chi’s debut.
In a more regular pattern, the remaining characters in the initial Kombat Pack for Mortal Kombat 1 were unveiled. Ermac made his appearance on April 16, followed by Homelander from The Boys on June 4, and Takeda joined the roster on July 23. Interestingly, these downloadable characters were introduced almost every seven weeks apart.
The second set of characters for Mortal Kombat 1 has maintained a pattern in its releases. Sektor, Cyrax, Noob Saibot, Scream’s Ghostface, and finally, Conan the Barbarian joined the game on specific intervals. They arrived with the Khaos Reigns expansion on September 24, followed by Ghostface exactly 8 weeks later, and then Conan the Barbarian 9 weeks after him.
Here, all the mentioned dates denote when the DLC characters were made accessible through early access for Kombat Pack purchasers. These characters subsequently became available to everyone else a week later if they were bought separately.
Mortal Kombat 1’s T-1000 Could Arrive in March
Based on the details provided, it appears highly probable that the DLC fighter for Mortal Kombat 1, resembling the T-1000 character, will be unveiled within a timeframe of 7 to 9 weeks following Conan’s early access debut. Translated into simpler terms, we can expect the T-1000 to make its appearance between March 11 and March 25.
It could very well be the case that the T-1000 from Mortal Kombat 1 experiences an unexpected delay, similar to what happened with Peacemaker last year. However, given that the T-1000 is supposed to be the final DLC character for Mortal Kombat 1 (for now), it seems more likely that NetherRealm Studios would aim for a successful conclusion by ensuring the character arrives within a reasonable timeframe, thus delivering a high-quality product.
