In a 90-minute live broadcast on Thursday, the developers of Civilization 7 unveiled their post-release strategy and downloadable content (DLC) plans. This includes details about the game’s development during its initial nine months following launch.
The disclosure occurred following an early release of information about the initial post-launch leaders and civilizations by a news outlet, which happened before the official announcement.
On February 6, Civilization VII begins its early-access phase for those purchasing the Deluxe or Founder’s Edition. These versions will receive a Day 0 Patch. For all other players, the game will become available from February 11 onwards.
From there come the planned “Collections”.
Starting March, you’ll encounter the first DLC expansion titled Crossroads of the World Collection. Kick-starting in early March, Release 1 debuts Ada Lovelace as a fresh leader, while introducing Carthage and Great Britain as playable civilizations. Additionally, four new natural wonders such as the Grand Canyon and Stonehenge will be available. In the same month, a significant update, Update 1.1.0, will be released, incorporating the Natural Wonder Battle event and the introduction of the Bermuda Triangle as a novel wonder. Towards the end of March, Release 2 arrives with Simon Bolivar joining the roster of leaders, accompanied by Bulgaria and Nepal. Furthermore, you’ll get additional free content including the Marvelous Mountains event and Mount Everest as an innovative natural wonder.
During the span from April to September, the Right to Rule Collection enriches the game experience by incorporating two fresh leaders, four distinct civilizations, and four additional world wonders. Furthermore, regular free content upgrades are planned, which will include novel events, challenges, and improvements for every player.
Firaxis has assured fans that they will continue providing updates, even beyond October, for the first new Civilization game in nearly a decade.
In the upcoming weeks, we’ll share the exact launch date for our Crossroads of the World compilation.
