As audiences eagerly anticipate the cinema release of Scream 7, news about the cast is arriving swiftly. In the recent past, one of the most puzzling and unexpected announcements regarding who will join the cast of Scream 7 was made just last Thursday.
In the upcoming movie “Scream 7,” details about the storyline are scarce, but we do know that Sidney Prescott, who was absent in “Scream 6,” is returning to the scene. Not just that, but her character will be accompanied by her husband. The announcement of this husband’s casting was a significant surprise for this new installment of the well-loved and long-running franchise. Many fans speculated that Sidney’s husband might be played by Patrick Dempsey, given his role as a police detective in a previous film. However, it is Joel McHale who has been added to the cast instead, and this addition is outshining other surprises due to the introduction of one of the franchise’s more intriguing villains.
Scream 7 Welcoming Back Surprising Character
As a cinephile, I can’t help but share some exciting news from Thursday: Deadline announced that Scott Foley is joining the cast of Scream 7! While it’s not entirely unexpected to see new faces in the franchise, the fact that he’ll be reviving his role as Roman Bridger has left me a little puzzled. After all, Sidney Prescott’s half-brother met an untimely end in Scream 3, so it’s intriguing to consider how this could unfold in the next installment.
In Scream 3, Bridger played a dual role as both the villain wearing the Ghostface mask in the film, and as the director of Stab 3: Return to Woodsboro, the third installment of the fictional movie series inspired by the “real-life” murders connected to Sidney and her friends. Systematically eliminating cast members from Stab 3, Bridger was eventually exposed as the illegitimate son of Maureen Prescott. He accused Sidney of ruining his childhood by leaving Hollywood and starting a family in Westboro with her father, but this emotional plea didn’t sway Sidney. In the end, Sidney, Gale Weathers, and Dewey banded together to kill him, culminating in Dewey shooting him in the head.
The certainty of Roman Bridger’s demise raises intriguing questions about whether his character could reappear. Given he was a movie director, there might be an imaginative solution suggesting his death was staged, but that seems quite implausible given the heroes in the film emphasized they had to ensure the villain was truly deceased.
There’s a chance that the creators of Scream 7 might consider a similar twist to bring back Roman Bridger, just like they did with Billy Loomis in Scream 5. Instead of resurrecting a deceased character, it could be a figment of someone’s imagination, specifically appearing to Sidney Prescott as a hallucination, dream, or imaginary character in her mind.
