Midnight Society Has Announced It’s Shutting Down

The group known as Midnight Society has declared that they are terminating the development of their NFT-supported action shooter game, DEADROP. This decision impacts approximately 55 developers who have been working on the project.

Announced on X (formerly Twitter), Midnight Society wrote:

Today, we’re sharing the bittersweet news that Midnight Society will be shutting down after an incredible 3-year journey. Our team of more than 55 developers has been instrumental in creating our new intellectual property, DEADROP.

We’re currently reaching out to other game studios who might be interested in welcoming our talented team members onto their teams.

If you know someone who’s hiring, please share this with them or send us a message for direct introductions.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to each member of our community and apologize that we didn’t quite reach our ultimate goal.

Following those incidents, the executive team at Midnight Society argued that Guy ‘Dr Disrespect’ Beahm primarily functioned as an influencer and brand promoter for them, but he contested by stating his role was much broader within the project. Could his dismissal from the company have contributed to this complex structure crumbling under its own weight?

DEADROP was set to combine a vertical shooter genre with blockchain technology and NFT-based mechanics. During its development, players like me were given sneak peeks and early access opportunities, but unfortunately, the game didn’t live up to expectations.
