Alan Wake 2 Free To Play

Even though January is nearing its end, it doesn’t mean you can’t do something generous. That seems to be the spirit behind Microsoft following their announcement that the highly successful game from 2023, Alan Wake 2, will be available for free.

As far as owning an Xbox Series X or Series S goes, you’re capable of enjoying three hours worth of gameplay from Alan Wake 2. Compared to the game’s extended runtime of over 25 hours, three hours might seem minimal, but it’s usually sufficient for most players to make up their minds about whether they want to invest in the complete version.

It’s not groundbreaking news that free play intervals or trial events aren’t new, but what stands out in this case is that you don’t need any type of Xbox Game Pass subscription to participate in the Alan Wake 2 free-play weekend.

Microsoft’s strategic decision to offer free access to popular games like Minecraft Dungeons seems shrewd, as it aims to entice more users towards its growing subscription service. This service currently boasts around 400 titles, as reported by CNET in January this year.

The Xbox Game Pass significantly contributed to the acclaimed success of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6”, a game that has been highly praised as an outstanding addition to the series.

What Games Are on Xbox Free Play Days?

During the current Xbox Free Play Days event, we’re also offering Alan Wake 2 alongside two additional games: Sword Art Online: Fractured Dimension and The Survivalists. Enjoy!

The game “Sword Art Online: Fractured Dream” is a multiplayer title that takes place within a twisted version of the universe from the popular Sword Art Online franchise, which originated as a manga in 2002 and has undergone various adaptations since then.

The game, titled “The Survivalists,” positions you as a leader guiding three companions to endure on an island brimming with hidden mysteries. In essence, it’s similar to the TV show Lost, except featuring more monkeys and no time travel, and it’s been skillfully crafted by the talented minds at Team17.

Instead of Alan Wake 2, playing the other two games in this free event necessitates an Xbox Game Pass subscription, but the service is flexible and doesn’t mind which tier you are subscribed to. Unlike Alan Wake 2, there’s no three-hour time limit applied to these games.

59 AM GMT on Monday.
