It has been confirmed that the popular game, MultiVersus, will be closing its doors following Season 5. Speculation about its potential closure started on Thursday, and now it’s official.
Warner Bros. Games and Player First Games have shared on their social media platforms and website that Season 5 marks the final update for MultiVersus. This season runs from February 4 to May 30, after which date the game will no longer be accessible online. However, it can still be played offline.
The blog post states that starting from a certain point, you’ll be able to enjoy MultiVersus offline using the local gameplay mode. You can choose to play either alone against computer-controlled opponents or with up to three friends. To access this feature, make sure you have the most recent version of the game installed or downloaded, and log in during Season 5, between February 4 at 9 a.m. PST and May 30 at 9 a.m. PST.
Once you’ve signed in, an autosave file linked to your PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Steam, or Epic Games Store profile will be made automatically. This enables you to play the game offline while keeping any progress and purchases you’ve already made.
Effective today (January 31), real-money transactions will no longer be an option within the game. Instead, you can acquire both new characters – Aquaman and Lola Bunny – by simply playing the game. Additionally, after Season 5 concludes on May 30, it will no longer be possible to download the game from any marketplace.
At this point, it’s unclear what the future holds for Player First Games, as they were purchased by Warner Bros. Games in July 2024.
