MultiVersus May Be One of the Biggest “What Ifs” in Gaming

The multiplayer game MultiVersus was initially made available for open beta testing on July 26th, 2022. Although it is still in the beta phase, the developers at Player First Games assured players that the game would continue to be active as they work towards its full release.

The game promotion was ubiquitous, and it was gaining traction as people found Bugs Bunny’s absurd victories over Superman amusing. It reached an astounding player base of more than 20 million by September 2022, but this figure began to drop because the open beta period lacked regular updates.

Initially, Player First Games had pledged to release their game in May 2024, but they changed their mind and removed the game from service prematurely in early 2023. This move left fans without access for more than a year, which effectively halted the game’s progress. By the time the game was re-released, it failed to meet expectations, and players had grown resistant to its aggressive monetization tactics.
