1 Day after its PC debut, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has rolled out its initial update. Just a few days ago, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 made its long-awaited arrival on PC, giving players who missed the PS5 launch in late 2023 a chance to explore Insomniac’s latest open-world superhero adventure set in symbiote-plagued New York City. The PC version of Spider-Man 2 not only includes all the action from the PS5 version, but also boasts improved graphics through Nvidia’s DLSS Ray Reconstruction and Intel XeSS upscaling, along with other advantages.
It’s worth noting that not all fans are satisfied with how Spider-Man 2 has fared on PC platforms. In fact, around 45% of Steam reviews after its release have been critical, pointing out numerous graphical errors and game crashes, even on the latest hardware. Technical difficulties have been a recurring issue in Insomniac’s Spider-Man series, but players on PC are eagerly anticipating that these problems will be addressed in upcoming updates.
The initial update for the PC version of “Spider-Man 2” has been released, as confirmed in a post on Steam today. This update, labeled as “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” PC Hotfix v1.31.0.0, tackles some frequent issues reported by players, including device freezes that can occur when ray-tracing is activated. The developers of the PC port for “Spider-Man 2,” Nixxes, assures continued monitoring of player feedback for future updates and encourages players to report any problems they experience on their support site.
New Spider-Man 2 PC Update Is the First of Many
Just like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Sony is continuing its strategy of bringing its major first-party PlayStation 5 exclusives to a wider PC audience. This trend isn’t stopping anytime soon, as The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is set for release on PC on April 3rd, and it’s expected to include many of the same technical improvements seen in the recent Spider-Man 2 port. Recently, Sony has announced that they will be abolishing the controversial PSN requirement for some of their PC games while offering incentives for players who sign into their accounts.
With Insomniac Games focusing on upcoming titles like “Marvel’s Spider-Man 3” and “Marvel’s Wolverine”, their latest superhero game is gaining more attention on the PC platform. “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2”, which received acclaim when it debuted on PS5 in 2023, could soar even higher with future updates and customizations in its new PC version. Previously released “Marvel’s Spider-Man” games, namely “Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered” and “Spider-Man: Miles Morales”, have been available on PC since 2022, having been ported earlier.
