He Was An S-Rank Boss Who Enjoyed Tormenting Humans

In the comic book (manhwa), Sung Jin-Woo encounters Kargalgan during a difficult A-Rank Dungeon expedition. At that point, Jin-Woo was yet to receive his S-Rank license, making him an E-Rank Hunter in the eyes of the raid party. Despite this, he was part of the mining team, and even the other A-Rank Hunters in the group were unaware of his hidden abilities. The job was supposed to be straightforward, but trouble arose when High Orcs appeared and slaughtered several members of the party. Initially, Jin-Woo tried to conceal his true powers, but things took a turn for the worse upon Kargalgan’s arrival, the leader of the High Orcs.
Unlike previous Dungeon bosses in the series, Kargalgan was unique in that he could converse in human language. His power was such that it instilled fear in his adversaries, rendering them immobile. Contrary to other monsters, Kargalgan derived pleasure not just from killing humans, but also from tormenting them before the act of slaying.
Following the closure of the Gate’s opening, Kargalgan called together the remaining members of the party, which included Jin-Woo. It seemed that Kargalgan intended to entertain his troops by playing with humans and eliminating them one at a time. With provisions on his back, Jin-Woo understood that this Dungeon Boss was beyond the capabilities of the strike team. True to form, Jin-Woo chose to act independently and conjured his Shadow Troops.
You’re going to regret….looking down on me and my Shadows – Sung Jin-Woo to Kargalgan.
Initially, Kargalgan had anticipated that someone within this combat unit held immense power. Consequently, he wasn’t taken aback when Jin-Woo effortlessly dispatched a High Orc with a mere flick of his finger. What did shock him, though, was the realization that such power resided in a human.
Jin-Woo’s Shadow Army had managed to fell several High Orcs, yet there were still some left unscathed. Kargalgan was certain that Jin-Woo would soon exhaust his mana and his Shadow Army would cease to replenish. However, Jin-Woo surprised him by employing a hidden strategy, integrating the slain High Orcs into his Shadow Army.
At that moment, it dawned on Kargalgan that the individual before him was not just another arrogant or self-centered human; he was an exceptional being, a Monarch.
Kargalgan’s Defeat At The Hands Of Jin-Woo
Jin-Woo Adds Kargalgan To His Shadow Army
In the heat of battle, Kargalgan shared they’d found themselves in this Dungeon along with the Orcs, ever since receiving orders to exterminate humans. Yet, it left him puzzled as to why a Monarch was opposing them and allying with humans. Despite recognizing Jin-Woo’s superior power, he was compelled to engage due to their given mission.
In no instance did Kargalgan’s curses affect Jin-Woo, and even the Orc Commanders suffered a loss at the hands of Igris, Tank, and Iron. Kargalgan believed that increasing his size would lead to victory over Jin-Woo, but as our hero pointed out, growing larger merely made Kargalgan an “easier mark.
Right now, Mr. Sung is soloing a top-tier dungeon (A-Rank). This demonstrates his true abilities – that’s Woo Jinchul for you.
Due to the rupture of the dungeon, I found myself among a group consisting of the Hunter Association’s surveillance team and Cha Hae-In, all of us managing to gain entry. Our intention was to aid those trapped within who were facing this imminent danger. To our astonishment, we witnessed Jin-Woo single-handedly conquering a top-tier A-Rank dungeon. The climax of the battle saw him vanquishing Kargalgan, while his shadowy troops handled the High Orcs. Following his victory, not only did Jin-Woo advance to a higher level, but he also incorporated Kargalgan into his Shadow Army. Since his memory failed him regarding Kargalgan’s true name, he bestowed upon its shadowy form the title “Tusk.
Tusk emerged as an exceptional and highly potent asset within the Shadow Army. Primarily functioning as a mage during combat, he significantly assisted Jin-Woo by conjuring spells and hexes against adversaries. To illustrate his prowess, in the Jeju Island arc, Tusk systematically eliminated countless Ants through his magical abilities. Ultimately, Tusk demonstrated himself to be one of the top five Shadow Soldiers within Jin-Woo’s Army.
