Fans of Bandai Namco Entertainment’s long-running Ridge Racer racing series, who haven’t had a new game in almost a decade, can now replay the 2000 classic, Ridge Racer 64, on Nintendo’s paid Switch Online subscription service starting today.
Racers Should Note That Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack Membership Are Required
Users need to understand that with the $19.99 USD per year subscription for Nintendo Switch Online, they can play the collections of the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). However, if they want access to games from the Game Boy Advance (GBA) and Nintendo 64 (N64), they will need to upgrade to the $49.99 Expansion Pack membership.
Swerving past that disclaimer, players are able to hop back into the arcade classic today.
As a die-hard gaming enthusiast, I’d like to share my excitement about the groundbreaking racing experience offered by Ridge Racer 64 – the first installment in the series that couldn’t be found on Arcade or PlayStation consoles back then. This game pushed the Nintendo 64 to its limits, showcasing blazing-fast races across three distinct environments. In total, it offered nine thrilling courses for us players to conquer!
Beyond this, several gameplay options are provided, such as Car Attack, Time Attack, Quick Play for those eager to speed up, and the original Grand Prix mode.
In Ridge Racer 64, I get a thrill from engaging my gaming buddies in any of its three multiplayer arenas – Team, Stage, or Battle!
This week, Ridge Racer 64 could be considered the standout title on Nintendo Switch Online, but just a week prior, the service added an impressive total of three SNES games to its library.
Fatal Fury 2, Super Ninja Boy, And Sutte Hakun Are Now Available On The Service’s SNES Library
These three games are accessible on both levels of the Nintendo Switch Online Service, bringing more diversity to the expanding library of Super NES (SNES) games.
1994’s Fatal Fury 2 is a combat-based video game where players strive to hone and employ their full range of abilities with the ultimate goal of being crowned the legendary Champion of The King of Fighters.
1993’s Super Ninja Boy offers an engaging blend of action and role-playing game (RPG) elements, presenting a distinct ninja journey that can either be embarked upon alone or collaboratively with another player through cooperative play.
To round things off, Sutte Hakkun is a unique blend of action and puzzle gameplay introduced in 1999. It encourages players to unleash their creativity by allowing them to pick up blocks, then release them to generate fresh routes.
Here are all four games accessible right now, each on its designated membership level. Notably, Ridge Racer 64 is making a return to a Nintendo system, coinciding with its 25th anniversary year.
