In fact, this particular chapter has strong contention for being one of the top chapters in the entire series, largely due to the significant revelations from the Harley texts about the world.
As per Harley texts, it’s been stated twice in the past that the One Piece universe has faced destruction, and each time this occurred, the name of the Sun God Nika played a role. This was previously mentioned in the narrative by the Great Elder Jarul. Now, chapter 1138 of One Piece has unveiled additional intriguing details about these ancient world-ending events, providing fans with a deeper understanding of the past.
The Ancient Mural That Was Drawn By Giants Connects To The Harley
- The Giants Drew A Mural Long Ago About The Wars That Destroyed The World
- The Mural Is Based On The Harley
In chapter 1138 of One Piece, a monumental mural adorning the Adam Tree in Elbaf was unveiled to the audience. This mural was chanced upon by Franky during his journey with Ripley, a significant character in Elbaf’s past and the admirer of the enigmatic shadowed man. Upon laying eyes on the mural, Franky appeared astonished, struggling to comprehend the sight before him, but Ripley speculated it might be just a child’s fantasy. However, it soon became evident that this wasn’t a mere figment of a child’s imagination. These murals were created by Giants from an era long past who had foresight into future events and had meticulously studied the Harley texts. The Harley texts reveal that the world of One Piece was embroiled in war not once, but twice historically, how these events are interconnected, and ultimately, how the world underwent destruction.
According to the Harley, our world was destroyed twice in the past. — Jarul
On its own, the mural might have been hard to decipher, but luckily for us, at around the same time, Nico Robin received a copy of the Harley from Saul. The Harley has numerous interpretations, making it so that everyone seems to have their unique take on the Sun God in “One Piece.” Nico Robin then proceeded to read through the Harley, which illustrated the Three Worlds. We know our current world as the Third World, while the other two are referred to as the Second and First World respectively.
The Depictions And The Story Of The Three Worlds
The First World
I stood by, witnessing the fiery blaze that consumed the land, igniting a fervor within humans to defy boundaries and grasp the forbidden radiance of the Sun. In their desperation, they made contact, invoking the wrath of the enslaved who pleaded fervently. The Sun God manifested himself, yet the Earth God’s anger was palpable, fueling the infernal serpent of flames to cloak the world in a chilling death and suffocating darkness. That day, their paths would tragically never cross again.
In the lore of One Piece, the First World is an ancient era, though its precise timeline remains undisclosed. Given that the Void Century occurred 900-800 years back, it’s plausible to estimate that the First World might have been approximately 1600 years ago, although this is just a best guess. The Harley texts provide valuable insights into the First World. It’s speculated that during this period, the world was ablaze, which could symbolically mean it was abundant in resources, with the “flames” referring to these resources themselves. Humans, attracted by these riches, coveted a piece of the flame for their own purposes.
It’s highly possible that the fires originated from the Forbidden Sun, a sun created by humans long ago. As a reminder, Vegapunk mentioned that this sun was incredibly powerful, even surpassing his Mother Flame. This is the sun that mankind came to possess, and with it, they likely gained dominance, as suggested by someone adorned with a crown, possibly being the one who touched the sun. Due to conflicts over power, slavery became widespread in the world.
It’s plausible that the enslaved beings were tasked with extracting more “energy orbs,” which resembled fragments of the Mother Flame. Eager for freedom, they fervently appealed to their Sun Deity. Remarkably, the deity manifested, though its origin remains unclear. Interestingly, a ship-like structure reminiscent of the Ark Maxim is depicted in the mural, hinting that perhaps the Sun God hailed from the moon, implying that the first Nika might have been an extraterrestrial on Earth. The Earth God and the Infernal Flames’ Serpent collaborated to confront the Sun God, and it appears they emerged victorious.
The Second World and The Third World
Life stirred in the emptiness, awakening the Forest Deity who summoned his demons. The Sun merely expanded its flames of conflict. People under the half-moon and people under the full-moon dreamt. Humans killed the Sun, ascending to Godhood, while the Sea Deity raged in fury. They would never meet again in this lifetime.
Amidst disorder lies emptiness. The disturbed echo recalls the anticipated day, and senses the shattered melody of the moon. The deity of the Sun frolics and chuckles, guiding the world towards its demise. The sun shall reemerge once more, ushering in a new dawn. Undoubtedly, this time they will reunite.
In the era known as the Void Century, the enigmatic Forest Deity appears to hold significant influence. This entity is thought to be the creator of demons, or perhaps the Devil Fruits, though their true identity remains a mystery. The Sun, serving possibly as a symbol for an ancient power source humans once accessed, ignited wars that ravaged the world, representing the destructive use of ancient weaponry. The inhabitants of the Crescent Moon, also known as the D people, and the winged races appealed to their divine guardian, who may have reincarnated as Joy Boy. However, 20 Kings banded together against him, possibly aligning with Imu (the Earth Deity), resulting in the Sun’s demise.
It’s uncertain if the ancient power source was obliterated with Joy Boy or if the Sun is symbolically referring to Joy Boy in this context. Regardless, it seems both entities may have met their end during a catastrophic conflict that united all races against Imu. The Sea God then became enraged, and the world submerged approximately 200 meters. Presently, we are in the Third World, where the Sun God has resurfaced as a remnant of the D. This time around, it’s predicted that he will vanquish Imu and herald a new era of light.
