In One Piece chapter 1138, Nico Robin was given access to the mysterious Harley texts, which were also illustrated on a mural carved into the Adam Tree and revealed to viewers through Franky. The Harley Text And Their Role In Elbaf
- The Harley Is An Ancient Scripture
- It States The World Has Been Destroyed Twice
During a feast in Elbaf, the subject of the Harley texts from One Piece was brought up by the character Jarul. It quickly became evident that Elder Jarul possessed valuable information regarding the Void Century and the period leading up to the present era. Almost instantly, Oda had Jarul share insights about the world’s history, with some details being predictable while others were startling. Most notably, the most intriguing disclosure made by Jarul was about the demise of the world.
Based on Elder Jarul’s account, the world depicted in “One Piece” has faced two catastrophic destructions in its past, as per the sacred text of Elbaf known as the Harley. The Harley is a challenging script to decipher due to the passage of time causing much of its original language to be lost. As a result, various interpretations of it exist. However, one consistent aspect is that each world destruction recorded in the Harley coincides with the appearance of the Sun God Nika. This ambiguity leads some to view Nika as a savior of the world, while others perceive him as a destroyer. In “One Piece” chapter 1138, Oda made the complete Harley accessible to readers through the character of Nico Robin.
The Hidden Meaning Behind The Harley Text
The Harley Tells The Story Of The World
As per Harley’s account, our present world marks the third iteration of existence on Earth. Previously, two other worlds had existed, only to be annihilated. Harley provides insights into each of these worlds and narrates the events that led to their destruction.
The First World
Fire consumed the earth, stirring human passions to reach towards the off-limits Sun. Enslaved beings pleaded, and the Solar Deity made an appearance. The Terrestrial Deity grew enraged, joining forces with the serpent of eternal flames, plunging the world into death and shadow. Their paths would never cross again.
As per Harley’s account, there was an ancient era known as the First World, predating the Void Century. This period was marked by a global blaze that thrived in abundance. These flames were utilized to generate an endless energy source, which unfortunately sparked human greed. With their increased greed, more of this eternal power was produced, leading to widespread slavery. Enslaved individuals secretly worshipped the Sun God, and somehow he manifested. The Mural suggests that the Sun God appeared in a vessel similar to Ark Maxim, possibly indicating that this deity hailed from the moon. The arrival of the Sun God enraged an unidentified Earth God, who joined forces with the Infernal Flame Serpent. Together, they annihilated the world, causing massive casualties and crushing humanity.
Second World
Life stirred in the emptiness, and the Forest Deity unleashed demons. The Sun merely fueled the flames of conflict. Those under the crescent moon dreamt, as did those under the full moon. Humans killed the Sun and ascended to divinity, enraging the Sea God. They would never cross paths again.
In the wake of the First World’s annihilation, human civilization re-emerged. However, this resurrection was marred by the emergence of demons from the Forest Realm. Little is known about the Forest Deity who summoned these demons, or the nature of their summoned entities. Nevertheless, given that forests are linked to trees and trees to fruits, it can be deduced that the enigmatic Forest Deity existed during the Void Century. It is plausible that this God spawned the demons, which may have ties to the Five Elders and their demonic Yokai abilities. As a consequence, the inhabitants of the Crescent Land, also known as the D, turned to prayer, along with the people of the Lunar Realm, or the Winged ones. The Sun Deity was born around this period, leading to a colossal conflict.
In time, we humans found a way to extinguish the radiant Sun, an act that holds profound implications. While we may have snuffed out the physical Sun, it’s intriguing to consider the distinction between the celestial body and the deified Sun God. What we seemingly eliminated was the life-giving star, but in doing so, we possibly also wiped out Nika, a character of mystery. With Nika’s demise, the Void Century reached its conclusion. Those who had waged war against Nika reveled in his death. The Sea God, likely Poseidon or the former Mermaid Princess, responded with a mournful roar, marking an end to any future encounters with Joy Boy. Our world was plunged 200 meters beneath the ocean’s depths using ancient powers, effectively annihilating it. It’s a chilling thought, isn’t it? The Sun God and Nika, two entities of immense power, now lost to us forever.
Third World
In turmoil, there lies emptiness. The disturbed echo recalls the anticipated day, and catches the whispers of the broken moon. The Sun Deity prances and giggles, guiding the realm towards its demise. The sun shall rise anew, and a fresh dawn will break. Indeed, this time, they shall reunite once more.
In summary, the present epoch is narrated in “Third World,” a period following the Void Century’s turmoil. The ominous remnants of the Void Century may be associated with Imu, and they seem to perceive the shattered moon’s echo. As suggested earlier, the D are descendants of the moon folk, and the broken moon fragments indicate survivors from the D Clan. In this era, the Sun God makes his reappearance, a sight already witnessed by fans. Luffy must persist in combat to usher in a genuine new day for the world, a plot line that will evolve over time. However, this time, the outcome promises to be unlike anything we’ve seen before.
