Summary
- Upgrade and assign Homunculi abilities strategically in Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist.
- Benumbed Howl, Poison Cloud, and Blazing Fist are the top abilities in the game.
- Abilities like Stun, Eviscerate, and Thunder Flower offer unique advantages in combat.
In the game titled “Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist“, the protagonist, Lilac, possesses an extraordinary ability. She carries a crystal that enables her to assimilate creatures called Homunculi within the game. This role of Lilac is referred to as an Attuner. Players are allowed to designate these Homunculi to any buttons on their preferred controller. For instance, the first Homunculus, Nola, equips Lilac with a sword attack.
In the game “Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist”, Homunculi can be enhanced to gain additional combat strategies. However, these enhancements are scarce compared to most games, so players must use them judiciously. Here’s a suggestion for the top skills players should master and utilize in this newest Metroidvania journey.
In the game “Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist”, the Homunculi can be improved to access additional battle tactics. These upgrades are less abundant than in most games, so players need to make thoughtful decisions about their use. Here’s a recommendation for the top skills players should learn and employ in this latest Metroidvania experience.
8. Benumbed Howl (Shackled Beast)
Counter With An Icy Blast
- Bonus Effect: Freeze
The chilling roar of the Shackled Beast, reminiscent of a creature straight from Bloodborne, is its most effective skill. Since all of the Shackled Beast’s moves are counterattacks, players must always stay vigilant and respond immediately when enemies strike.
The timing is a bit flexible compared to other game systems, yet it can still pose challenges. The Benumbed Howl ability deals cold damage to surrounding foes and might immobilize them. This skill is most effective against common enemies rather than bosses.
7. Poison Cloud (Huginn)
Dodge And Create A Poisonous Cloud
In this game, you’ll encounter a pair of avian friends, and one of them happens to be an owl named Huginn. To engage Huginn’s unique powers, players must skillfully dodge. The power move that aligns best with Huginn is the Poison Cloud ability.
In any given location, when players evade, they’ll generate a small, violet mist that harms adversaries as long as they are within its boundaries. Typically, this attack will be encountered by players in the game and can prove bothersome. However, the joy lies in switching roles, although Huginn may not be the top-tier Homunculus overall.
6. Blazing Fist (Lito)
Inflict Damage And Blaze Them Up
- Bonus Effect: Blaze
For Lito, it’s crucial to focus on enhancing his primary skill, the Blazing Fist. Although his other two skills are useful, this one stands out as the most important. Lito’s abilities operate similarly to those found in traditional action RPGs, where they have cooldown periods before they can be used again.
In simpler terms, when you use the move “Blazing Fist,” Lito’s fist will be propelled forward, dealing significant damage and potentially causing an enemy to catch fire (known as being infected by Blaze). The Blaze ability continuously inflicts fire damage on the enemy over time. Therefore, it’s a strategic choice to use this move at the beginning of a boss fight. Remember, after using this skill, there will be a cooldown period before you can use it again, so don’t forget to try it again once the cool-down is over!
5. Stun (Munnin)
Zap Enemies Automatically
- Bonus Effect: Shock
Munnin is another owl from the game and has an innate talent called “Stun”. You trigger it by pressing a button, and then Munnin uses the abilities you’ve selected for him at random intervals.
Among the trio, I find Stun truly remarkable due to its ability to potentially stun enemies with Shock. Munnin’s attacks may not pack a heavy punch, but they offer invaluable utility as players can rely on them without fretting over management details. While AI companions will never replicate the essence of real-life friends in co-op play, Munnin does an admirable job at filling that role.
4. Eviscerate (Yolvan)
Drill Into Enemies Continuously
In the captivating world of “Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist”, I’ve come to know Yolvan as an adversary, a formidable foe before he becomes an ally. Prior to our alliance, he wields some challenging abilities. Unlike his initial pistol attack, it’s his Eviscerate move that truly sets him apart. This incredible skill transforms his ranged attacks into devastating melee strikes, using a drill fashioned from whirling wind as his weapon of choice.
Players can keep pressing the designated key to repeatedly use Eviscerate in an ongoing assault, ceasing whenever desired. However, it’s important to note that this strategy trades the security of ranged attacks for the potency of melee combat, but overall Yolvan’s abilities prove to be generally valuable.
3. Thunder Flower (No. 7)
Jump And Spin Into Enemies
- Bonus Effect: Shock
Character No. 7 is reminiscent of a samurai, wielding his sword to swiftly cut through groups of enemies. The Thunder Flower ability transforms these slashes into a spin attack that moves vertically, much like Samus’ Screw Attack in the classic game, Super Metroid, which significantly influenced the Metroidvania genre.
In the novel “Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist,” Thunder Flower might pay tribute to the Screw Attack, but it could also just be a mere coincidence. Nonetheless, this persistent destructive force carries a likelihood of causing Shock along with its high-damage output.
2. Whirlwind (Luiseach)
Protect Lilac With Two Opposing Cyclones
- Bonus Effect: Shock
Among the remaining Homunculi, Luiseach stands out as the one set to join our group. Her prowess lies not only in her magical skills but also in the versatility of her powers. Choosing a favorite among her three abilities is quite a challenge, given that each one enhances elemental damage and brings unique effects into play.
In a slight edge, the gusty whirlwind prevails, much like Yolvan’s relentless assault, Luiseach unleashes consistent attacks. This unique skill generates two tornadoes as shields on Lilac’s flanks, inflicting harm on any approaching foe. Additionally, it has a bonus effect of shocking enemies as well.
1. Soul Harvester (Nola)
Attack Enemies With A Scythe
In the game, Soul Harvester could be an excellent name for a scythe, as it reflects what the Grim Reaper typically uses to gather souls. Nola, who is Lilac’s starting Homunculus in Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist, has three weapons that appear as abilities.
Initially, she wields a sword, but later, players can alternate between a scythe and a large axe. Interestingly, the scythe offers an optimal blend of attack force and speed. Moreover, it adds a stylish flair to execute combos in games ranging from Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist to Darksiders 2, and even Final Fantasy Type-0.
