Tifa’s Top 7 Knuckle Moves in FF7 Rebirth: True Strike Unveiled!

As a gamer, I’d put it this way: “In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, I find myself with a character named Tifa who’s something like our group’s martial artist. Instead of traditional weapons, she wields gloves, which she’s mastered since her childhood training under the legendary Zangan. Each of these seven gloves she can obtain in the game comes with its unique ability.

By deploying these skills in combat, you’ll gradually gain access to use additional abilities with Tifa’s gloves during future encounters in “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth”. It’s an effective method to expand Tifa’s repertoire of abilities, so let’s examine each one closely and determine which stands supreme. There may be spoilers regarding locations, but the narrative itself won’t receive significant attention.

7. Overpower (Kaiser Knuckles)

Under Pressure

  • More efficiently pressure enemies with your basic attacks or other abilities.
  • ATB – 1
  • Location: In Chapter 5 aboard the Shinra-8 while following Barret you’ll reach Cargo Hold 1F; you’ll enter a small clearing where a scene will show and a hooded man get attacked by one of the mysterious enemies. After defeating the enemies, look along the left side of the room to a small platform you can climb up to find a purple chest with the knuckles within.

In “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth,” there’s a significant shift in the narrative after Junon, as the vessel has been transformed from a cargo ship in the original game to a luxury cruise liner named The Shinra-8. This is where players can acquire Tifa’s Kaiser Knuckles; it’s hidden inside a chest and not linked to the Queen’s Blood tournament happening onboard.

In simpler terms, activating the Overpower ability for Tifa in Final Fantasy 7 Remake isn’t her strongest move, but it can make enemies vulnerable by putting them under pressure. When an enemy is under pressure, they become staggered more easily, a state that makes them immobile and weakens their defenses.

6. Divekick (Leather Gloves)

Bring Flying Enemies Down

  • Jump up before launching down onto an enemy.
  • ATB – 1
  • Location: The Leather Gloves are Tifa’s starting weapon.

In Tifa’s standard equipment, you’ll find Leather Gloves. No need for a long search! These gloves can help you access the Divekick skill, be mindful not to mix it up with the fighting game of the same name. What this ability does is make Tifa leap into the air and then come crashing down on an opponent with her foot.

As a dedicated fan, I’d say this move against airborne adversaries is a game-changer! When executed perfectly, Tifa’s ability knocks them out of the sky. While it may not deal heavy damage, it’s all about strategy – it’s more about positioning and timing than sheer power.

5. Reverse Gale (Sylph Gloves)

Get Over Here!

  • Knocks enemies up into the air or down to the ground.
  • ATB – 1
  • Location: in the Mythril Mines during Chapter 3 when controlling Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith. Climb down the stairs to reach the excavation site right after getting separated to find the gloves in a purple chest along the back wall of the excavation site.

In the third chapter of “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth”, you’ll find the Sylph Gloves within the Mythril Mine. Once acquired, Tifa can learn the Reverse Gale ability from these gloves. This skill creates wind gusts on the battlefield, proving advantageous in three ways if players manage to master their aiming precision.

When struck by it, they can send opponents soaring aloft, making them exposed and vulnerable. Additionally, Reverse Gale functions like Divekick, pulling airborne foes towards Tifa. Lastly, a blast of wind from this attack can draw an adversary closer to Tifa as if she were summoning them with the famous “Get Over Here!” from the Mortal Kombat series, similar to Scorpion’s move.

4. Chi Trap (Tiger Fangs)

Trapping The Battlefield

  • Creates an orb of Chi that damages any enemy it touches.
  • ATB – 1
  • Location: During Chapter 9 when you head to the Gongaga Reactor when playing as Tifa, Aerith, and Yuffie. In Reactor B3 will be a flooded tunnel, swim to the far end of the tunnel before looking back to find a grappling spot, followed by another one in the same direction higher up. After the second grapple, turn around to see a purple chest on the next section up that can also be grappled to, with the Tiger Fangs inside.

In this game, many special moves boost characters or strike opponents directly. However, some moves from certain characters allow for traps to be set on the battlefield as well. One such character is Tifa, who has the ability to create a Chi Trap, which can be mastered through the use of Tiger Fangs.

In the chapter 9 segment featuring Tifa in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you can collect Tiger Fangs within the Gongaga Reactor. During her turn, Tifa will unleash a large orb using Chi Trap. If an enemy enters this orb, they’ll receive a heavy blow. However, the AI of some enemies is smart enough to dodge such traps.

3. Starshower (Dragon Claws)

Become An Unblinking Star

  • A flurry of attacks and a strengthened next command.
  • ATB – 1
  • Location: Obtained by completing Rank 3 of Desert Rush found in the Dustbowl.

In the game Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Starshower is an impressive attack linked to one of Tifa’s most challenging weapons to acquire, known as the Dragon Claws. These gloves are concealed within the Dustbowl region, formerly known as Corel Prison in the original version. Cloud can engage in a mini-game there called Desert Rush.

This mini-game, much like the box-breaking Moogle game from Final Fantasy 7 Remake, has been revamped with the addition of special electrical boxes to increase difficulty. Regarding the method of acquisition, let’s focus on its gameplay instead. Starshower begins with a brief pause, as if Tifa is mentally preparing herself. Subsequently, she swiftly dodges around enemies, executing rapid-fire attacks without blinking. The sequence strikes multiple times, making her invulnerable during the animation, which makes the challenge of this mini-game in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth a rewarding one.

2. Unfettered Fury (Crystal Gloves)

Stagger Enemies Into Dust

  • Adds non-elemental magic to your basic attacks.
  • ATB – 1
  • Location: On your way north out of Nibelheim on your way to the reactor, you’ll cross a bridge with a building just on the other side with a truck parked out front. The Crystal Gloves around found to the left of the building in a purple chest.

As an enthusiastic gamer, I’m thrilled to share that at the start of the game, Tifa will be equipped with a powerful ability called “Unbridled Strength.” This special move not only boosts her attack power on regular attacks but also increases her Chi level. Tifa has two distinct Chi levels, and each one alters the function of the triangle button on my PlayStation 5 controller. If I manage to use Unbridled Strength once, the option for a powerful attack called Omnistrike becomes available. However, if I utilize Unbridled Strength twice consecutively, an extraordinary move named “Rise and Fall” will appear instead!

You can acquire the move called “Unfettered Fury” by mastering it with the Crystal Gloves, which are located in the Nibel Region, also known as Tifa’s hometown. Essentially, Unfettered Fury is a stronger form of Unbridled Strength and will boost your Chi levels too. Players have the option to combine these two power-ups for some exceptionally damaging outcomes.

1. True Strike (Jarngreipr)

Summon Up The Power Of The God Hand

  • Delivers a powerful close-range attack.
  • ATB – 1
  • Location: In Chapter 13 in The Temple Of The Ancients in the Hall Of Life – Second Tier. You’ll initially find this place during the story when playing as Cloud, Tifa, and Barret, after defeating the riot troopers and jumping over the fallen pillar. Off to the left from the direction the gust of lifestream comes from will be a purple chest, just time your interaction with it between gusts.

In simpler terms, Tifa’s True Strike isn’t just her most powerful attack; it’s also one of the game’s strongest character abilities. This formidable move is associated with the hard-to-pronounce gauntlets known as Jarngreipr. You can find this hidden ability in the Temple of the Ancients, which serves as the final dungeon in the game.

In this scenario, Tifa will channel all her power into a single, devastating strike known as True Strike. If she’s empowered by Unbridled Strength or Unfettered Fury, this attack becomes even more destructive. It’d be intriguing to witness a clash between Tifa’s True Strike and a regular punch from One Punch Man in a hypothetical crossover fight, a match-up that fans of the anime “One Punch Man” and the upcoming game “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth” would likely find exciting.
