In Sniper Elite: Resistance, players will predominantly focus on finding distinct Nazi targets throughout most of the campaign missions, marked for elimination. Each target has a unique method of being taken down to fulfill a Kill Challenge. Successfully completing these challenges often results in some sort of reward. Kill Challenges like these are common across various games in the Sniper Elite series.
Hermann Gottschalk serves as the final mission objective, known as the Kill Challenge, for level 8. This means it’s the last challenge players will encounter. To complete this challenge, players must eliminate him through a gas explosion. This requirement can be met in two distinct methods. The first method involves positioning him at the appropriate location and time. The second approach necessitates that the player has previously unlocked one of the alternate starting points.
Where to Start in End of the Line
To begin this mission, initially secure the Eastern Rail Yard as your starting point. It’s situated in the north region of the game map. If you’re new to this map, select the ‘Civilian’ difficulty level and make a beeline for the designated spot marked on the map.
After departing from the mission, feel free to adjust the game difficulty as desired, then commence the mission anew. By initiating from this specific starting point, players can complete the Kill Challenge for this level without triggering any alerts or firing a single bullet. If you choose to begin from other locations, it may be necessary to carry potent weapons along.
How to Kill Hermann Gottschalk with a Gas Explosion in Sniper Elite: Resistance
As soon as we start, let’s stick to the right-hand wall for cover and keep a low profile to avoid encountering enemies. You can run at full speed until you reach the edge of the yellow circle. However, be aware that there’s a lone guard at this location who could cause trouble. If they spot us, it might alert other guards as well.
Keep traveling along this wall to its end to find one of the game’s hidden workbenches.
A better approach would be to squat down and search for the moving light source. Eliminate this guard in close combat. It won’t affect them if they turn red, but as long as they don’t shoot at anything, other guards will remain unaware. After you’ve dealt with them, carry on going south, and you’ll see a crane. Remember to stay squatted to minimize your visibility and move between the metal stairs and steam engine.
Heading straight ahead, you’ll eventually spot a quaint little white house on your left. Across from this house, you’ll find a conspicuous red valve. Interacting with this valve will trigger an increase in gas pressure within the pipes. Keep an eye out because, shortly after, this will lead to Hermann rushing towards it and causing a devastating explosion. If you’re successful, not only will you complete your Kill Challenge with a spectacularly violent blast, but you’ll also skip past any alerts to nearby enemies, allowing you to continue the mission undetected.
