From my perspective, in a realm where demons often claim the lives of the blameless, it’s the Demon Slayer Corps who have been the central figures in the Demon Slayer saga. They tirelessly hunt and vanquish both mighty and lesser demons, safeguarding against the ascension of the Demon King, Muzan, to power.

If the Demon Slayer Corps hadn’t been there, what might have become of all those blameless lives? Could people have carried on living or would humanity find itself in a far more ominous era? Without the Corps to maintain balance, humans would likely be at a disadvantage, with Muzan and his demon horde ruling unchecked as they feasted on humans at will.

A World Where Demons Reigned

If The Demon Slayer Corps Never Exsisted, Chaos Will Ensue

In the absence of the Demon Slayer Corps, there wouldn’t be a well-organized force resisting Muzan and his demon horde. Most humans attempting to fight back would likely be those with military training, such as monks or samurais, but they would lack the specific training needed to battle demons effectively. They would also be lacking in essential skills, knowledge, and tools for combating demons. Entire human settlements would be vulnerable to destruction, moving ever closer to annihilation as demons aim to take over. Without mastery of Breathing Techniques, samurais would find their traditional combat skills insufficient against the powerful blood demon art wielded by demons. In terms of weaponry – without the expertise in slaying demons, nichirin swords would become obsolete, leaving even skilled samurai defenseless against even low-ranking demons.

Across the realm I find myself in, a solitary entity exists, one known as Muzan Kibutsuji. His very lifeblood holds an extraordinary power – the ability to transform ordinary humans into demonic forms, much like himself.

Eventually, people might find themselves overwhelmed by despair, resigned to the role of prey for demons. They may choose to live in seclusion during the night hours for the remainder of their lives out of fear. Furthermore, these beings could be compelled to serve Muzan as a deity or risk facing execution. Some individuals may attempt to survive independently, but their odds of doing so would be slim. The upper moon demons under Muzan’s command would wield immense power, spreading terror among their victims with no one to challenge them. Each upper moon demon would hold sway over villages and capture humans to either consume or transform into demons at their discretion.

What Would Happen To Tanjiro’s Journey?

Tanjiro Would Be Helpless WIthout The Demon Slayers

In an alternate scenario, Tanjiro’s progression as the main character in the series might have taken a drastically different path. Following the tragic murder of his family by Muzan, Tanjiro would not have the Hashiras or the Demon Slayer corps to support and instruct him. Consequently, he wouldn’t acquire any Breathing Techniques or the combat skills demonstrated in the series.

On his own, Tanjiro’s efforts to safeguard Nezuko would likely be unsuccessful due to his lack of training and resources to battle demons. As he wouldn’t possess the Hashiras’ assistance nor the skills to overcome these demonic threats, Nezuko would be their sole source of protection – however, it remains uncertain if she could withstand multiple encounters with upper moon demons.

This alteration might lead Tanjiro to conceal himself and Nezuko to avoid detection, or else face the possibility that Nezuko would eventually fall into Muzan’s grasp. This dire situation could have resulted in a more isolated existence for both siblings, with little hope of finding aid or respite from their pursuer.

Should the Demon Slayer Corps disband, so too would the Hashira lineage disappear. In the absence of Ubuyashiki to establish and govern the Demon Slayer Corps, fledgling Demon Slayers might miss out on mastering Breathing Techniques. This could result in them engaging in futile battles against Muzan and his upper moon demons. Although humans might attempt to organize resistance, they would lack the rigorous training, discipline, and teachings provided by the Demon Slayer Corps. With Muzan unchecked, he’d expand his dominion across Japan, turning cities and villages into his feeding grounds. Over time, his reign of terror would progressively engulf the world.
