Ranking Yuffie’s 7 Shuriken Abilities in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Originally, Yuffie didn’t have a significant role in the main storyline of Final Fantasy 7. However, her character was significantly enhanced in the DLC for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and she continues to be an enjoyable character to play in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

Yuffie is a versatile character who can engage enemies both at close quarters and from a distance, thanks to her ability to hurl large shurikens or use them for melee combat. In the game, there are seven shurikens available for Yuffie, and she can acquire skills from each one of them. Here’s a list of the seven shurikens for Yuffie in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, arranged by their effectiveness in combat. Be warned that this information may contain spoilers about where to find these weapons.

Note: This paragraph is intended to provide clear and concise information while maintaining a friendly, conversational tone.

7. Banishment (Crystalline Cross)

An Ability To Strengthen Others

  • A ranged blast of magic energy that either knocks and enemy up into the air or down to the ground. ATB used in battle adds to the stack, with every three ATB greatly increasing the damage. The element this ability uses is determined by the current Ninjutsu affinity Yuffie has active.
  • ATB – 1
  • Location: During Chapter 12 you’ll be chasing Cait Sith through the Golden Saucer. After entering the back rooms you’ll run through a long hallway, opening up to a small room with the door off to the left where you’re supposed to go. Much closer to where you currently are just ahead to the right will be a purple chest with the cross inside.

In Gold Saucer, Yuffie acquires the Crystalline Cross, a special item with the Banishment power. Using Banishment on an adversary boosts the damage Yuffie inflicts when she employs any of her abilities against them subsequently.

In the game “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth”, it’s important to note that the benefits, such as damage boosts, are only applicable for weapon-based skills. This means that regular attack and spell damages from Magic Materia like Fire won’t accumulate. However, Yuffie begins with a powerful offensive move known as Art of War, which makes an excellent pairing with Banishment and other abilities she can learn from various weapons.

6. Purification (Fuma Shuriken)

Drain Enemies Of HP/MP

  • A ranged blast of magic energy that pulls enemies closer to Yuffie. ATB used in battle adds to the stack, with every three ATB greatly increasing the damage. The element this ability uses is determined by the current Ninjutsu affinity Yuffie has active.
  • ATB – 1
  • Location: in Chapter 13 while in the later areas of the Temple of the Ancients you’ll reach the Hall of Resurrection – First Tier. From the stairs you just took down, look to the left side of the hallway to see a small platform with stairs leading to a purple chest, with the Suriken within.

Purification isn’t as powerful or impactful as Banishment when it comes to Yuffie’s ultimate weapon, Fuma Shuriken. The Fuma Shuriken is a formidable weapon, particularly in terms of its stats, but its accompanying ability is only average compared to other characters like Aerith and her Gambanteinn, which has an exceptional ability called Noble Sacrifice. This suggests that there may be room for improvement or enhancement with Yuffie’s ultimate weapon and its associated ability.

As a dedicated fan, I’d put it like this: During battle, I can inflict purification on my foe, which means that a portion of their Health (HP) and Magic Power (MP) will be sucked up whenever Yuffie attacks them. Interestingly, the MP absorption is more beneficial in this case, as maintaining high MP levels can be quite challenging towards the end of the game.

5. Blindside (Savage Dagger)

Nothing Can Stop This Ninja

  • Launch a physical attack even if stunned or paralyzed.
  • ATB – 1
  • Location: One of Yuffie’s starting weapon once she officially joins the party.

In the game we’re discussing, Yuffie plays much like a divine ninja, possessing the resources to seemingly escape or capitalize on any circumstance. For instance, most players dislike status effects in RPGs due to their potential for being annoying during combat. Yet, if Yuffie encounters a status effect that immobilizes her (such as paralysis), she has an ability called Blindside which can nullify those status effects.

From among Yuffie’s two initial weapons, the Savage Dagger can be used to gain an unexpected advantage. When activated, she dashes forward and delivers a lethal blow to her adversaries. It doesn’t alleviate any status effects, but it provides Yuffie with an action if the rest of the party is frozen or unable to act.

4. Shooting Star (Crescent Sickle)

An Improved Throw

  • Throw your weapon and damage any enemy hit by it.
  • ATB – 1
  • Location: After getting the Chocobo in the Cosmo Canyon Region, you’ll be able to complete the Gliding Courses. The Sickle is the reward for getting 3,600 points on the first course.

In the thrilling world of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, I’ve found that obtaining some weapons can be quite a test of my skills due to their mini-game requirements. For instance, if I want to claim the regional Chocobo from Cosmo Canyon, I need to guide mine through several courses, soaring elegantly through targets along the way. The precision required is almost pixel-perfect, making it an exhilarating challenge!

If gamers manage to conquer the course entirely, they will obtain Yuffie’s Crescent Sickle equipped with the Shooting Star skill. This ability allows Yuffie’s weapon to fly across the battlefield, penetrating any adversary it encounters. It works best when used against an enemy at a distance instead of one near Yuffie. Essentially, it functions like a more powerful Throw command, but Yuffie can’t teleport to the spot.

3. Windstorm (Twin Viper)

Get Over Here!

  • An AOE Wind attack that damages and pulls enemies in.
  • ATB – 1
  • Location: During Chapter 7 the party will split up while exploring the Coal Mines and you’ll control Yuffie. As you progress you’ll eventually get a grappling hook to help get around. Right after getting the Grappling Hook, look to the left and grapple over to the water wheel which is where you need to go to progress through the mine. To the right of where you land will be a purple chest with the weapon inside.

In “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth,” it’s peculiar that Yuffie, who possesses an abundant reservoir of magical might within her, seems to crave Materia even more. For instance, she can conjure actual wind tempests using the Twin Viper weapon. This formidable artifact can be obtained in the Coal Mines of Corel during Yuffie’s, Barret’s, and Tifa’s independent journey, separate from Cloud and his companions.

It’ll show her how to use Windstorm, a technique that sets up the wind turbines in the field. Not only does it cover a wide space, but the strong gusts of wind it generates will attract enemies towards Yuffie, similar to Scorpion’s iconic grappling move from Mortal Kombat.

2. Elemental Ninjutsu (Four-Point Shuriken)

The Right Element For The Job

  • Imbues Yuffie’s weapon with an element for basic attacks or abilities.
  • ATB – 1
  • Location: One of Yuffie’s starting weapon once she officially joins the party.

In the game, Yuffie starts with another default weapon called the Four-Point Shuriken. This is her go-to weapon throughout the series. With this weapon, she learns Elemental Ninjutsu, which allows her to infuse her weapon with magical elements such as fire, ice, wind, or lightning. In the upcoming game Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, there’s a Support Materia called Elemental that can accomplish this too, but players need to set things up before a battle starts.

In a simplified manner, Elemental Ninjutsu grants Yuffie agility to adapt swiftly to any unexpected circumstance. This skill has been transferred from her DLC storyline in the PlayStation 5 version of “Final Fantasy 7 Remake”. It was incredibly powerful in that game and continues to be so in this one as well.

1. Doppelganger (Bird of Prey)

Yuffie’s Shadow Clone Jutsu

  • Creates a clone of Yuffie that copies her moves to deal double damage to enemies.
  • ATB – 1
  • Location: in Chapter 9 you’ll make your way to Gongaga village. Here you’ll meet Cissnei who will let the party stay in her house. Inside her house, walk into the kitchen straight in from the front door and look to the left to find a purple chest tucked in the corner with the weapon inside.

In a nod to popular anime ninja characters like Naruto, Yuffie in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth employs a move similar to his clone technique. This ability, called Doppelganger, is reminiscent of Naruto’s and can be acquired using the Bird of Prey weapon found within Gongaga Village. Interestingly, when players zoom in with the photo mode, they’ll find that Yuffie’s clone looks quite amusing due to its goofy appearance.

Despite its peculiar appearance, it serves to duplicate Yuffie’s melee attacks. Essentially, it functions as an additional party member, albeit one that is less powerful. Regardless, each extra attack can prove crucial during the combat of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, particularly when facing tough boss battles.
