The new chapter of the Marvel Snap game, known as Brave New World, is now underway! This latest season, which marks its 33rd installment, features Sam Wilson as Captain America alongside no less than eight additional Marvel Snap character cards.
Since its initial launch in October 2022, the hit collectible card game by Second Dinner has been consistently delivering seasonal content each month since its premiere. The recently finished “Marvel Snap” season, themed around the Dark Avengers, wrapped up on February 4, at 11am Pacific Standard Time.
At the culmination of the Dark Avengers season in Marvel Snap, a new seasonal update has commenced. This latest content release is centered around Disney’s upcoming blockbuster, Captain America: Brave New World, featuring Anthony Mackie, set for release on Valentine’s Day (February 14). In anticipation of the premiere, Marvel Snap will introduce nine new cards, inspired by the film. Notably, Sam Wilson Captain America, a 2/3 hero, is set to lead the list of additions. Upon game start, he deploys Cap’s Shield as a 1/1 card, granting Sam Wilson Captain America a 2-point Power boost when moved to his location.
Moving Captain America’s Shield to its owner can sometimes need a bit of good fortune, but cards such as Madame Web from Marvel Snap can work in harmony with it, offering an alternate method for placing the shield on the game board. As per Marvel Comics, the shield is indestructible. A card from Another Brave New World that pays homage to Marvel’s lore is Uncle Ben, who transforms into Spider-Man when he gets destroyed.
In the 33rd season of the game, a fresh character named Joaquin Torres Falcon II, a 3/4 figure, is introduced. When placed on the board, this character doubles the On Reveal effect of every card with a cost of 1. As such, Joaquin Torres Falcon II appears to have the ability to become one of Marvel Snap’s top Ongoing cards. However, it’s crucial to strategize carefully when utilizing him as he lacks durability and might not last long on the field.
As a fan, I’m excited to share that in addition to Sam Wilson as Captain America, Brave New World also unveils two more 2-Cost characters: Thaddeus Ross and Gorgon. Thaddeus Ross has a strategic move, penalizing your opponent when they don’t follow an optimal Energy rhythm by drawing a card with 10 or more Power whenever that occurs. On the other hand, Gorgon brings an Ongoing effect, incrementally increasing the Cost of all your opponent’s initial cards by one, reaching a maximum of six. The upcoming season also includes two additional 3/3 characters—Redwing and Diamondback—alongside the 4/5 Laufey. The season is set to conclude on March 4, at 11pm PST.
