Niantic has unveiled the Scattered to the Winds event for Pokémon GO, an update that brings fresh Shiny Pokémons into the mobile game while also increasing the number of gifts you can send and receive.

In Pokemon Go, opening gifts can be quite frustrating because it’s so slow. It would greatly improve the gameplay experience if there was an option to open all gifts simultaneously, much like how you can open ten packs at once in the Pokemon TCG Pocket.

During the period from Tuesday, February 18th, 10:00 a.m., until Thursday, February 20th, 2025, 8:00 p.m., local time, an upcoming event in Pokemon Go will focus on flying creatures. This event is known as “Scattered to the Winds”.

Pokemon Go’s Scattered To The Winds Bumps Up The Gift Limit

The primary appeal of Scattered to the Winds lies in the fact that for the first time, Scatterbug, Spewpa, and Vivillon will reveal their Shiny versions. Additionally, there’s an increased probability of stumbling upon a Shiny Pidgey in the wild. Moreover, players who collect and pin postcards obtained from Gifts will have a higher chance of encountering more Scatterbug, with a boosted Shiny rate as well.

Throughout the Scattered to the Winds event, the following bonuses will be applied to all players:

  • 2× XP for spinning a PokéStop.
  • 5× XP for spinning a PokéStop for the first time.
  • Open up to 40 Gifts per day.
  • Open up to 60 Gifts per day if you have purchased the Eggs-pedition Access: February ticket.
