2K Fires 31st Union President After Project Ethos’ Poor Response

2K Games has made a significant change within their development team, as reports suggest that they have terminated the contract of Michael Condrey, who served as the president of 31st Union. This decision reportedly followed a less-than-satisfactory reception for Project Ethos.

2K decided to alter their approach for the game based on feedback following its unveiling, as both players and critics found it lackluster. An assessment from IGN last year noted that it failed to impress in either the roguelike or extraction shooter genres, not offering anything particularly groundbreaking.

As a dedicated fan, I’m sharing some news I picked up from Kotaku about my favorite game – it seems that Condrey is moving on from the project, but let me reassure you all, I’m personally committed to this game and so is 2K. They are still fully invested in ensuring its success!

3K’s representative acknowledged their appreciation towards Michael Condrey for his unwavering dedication, zeal, and hard work that led to the creation of a phenomenal team and the shaping of 31st Union’s vision. It was revealed that Michael will temporarily step away from his current role to offer guidance on Project ETHOS’ future direction. The commitment to Project ETHOS’ progression, as well as the spirit and culture of the 31st Union studio, remains unwavering.

In 2019, Condrey departed from Sledgehammer Games, a studio he co-founded back in 2009, and subsequently joined 31st Union. As of now, there has been no comment from him regarding this transition or future plans for his career.

On Thursday, February 6, at 4:30 PM Eastern Time, Take-Two Interactive is set to disclose its third-quarter fiscal year 2025 financial results.
