Given that their father’s behavior was inexcusable and not something that can be easily forgiven, it’s only natural that they would continue to struggle with it.

I believe it would be more unsettling to release The Black Phone 2 some years from now, given that the original story concludes with Finney’s safety. It seems logical that after a brief period of normalcy for Finney and Gwen, they might cross paths with The Grabber again in their teenage years, demonstrating that they cannot fully elude this enigmatic and frightening character.
