The reviews for “Immortals of Aveum” were generally split, with many complimenting its impressive spellcasting mechanics and graphics, yet finding the storyline and combat underwhelming. As a result, this game currently holds an average critic score of 72 on OpenCritic.
Currently, it has been noted by Dark Side of Gaming that Electronic Arts (EA) has taken away the Denuvo anti-piracy software from the game “Immortals of Aveum.” This adjustment transpired approximately 18 months following the initial release of “Immortals of Aveum,” which is not unexpected given that Denuvo contracts typically last for a short period to deter piracy in the early stages of a game’s release. Despite being widely criticized by PC gamers due to its intrusive nature and allegations that it affects game performance, it remains unclear whether this removal will influence the performance of “Immortals of Aveum” in any way.

Although this latest development might seem positive, it’s doubtful that it will influence the sales of Immortals of Aveum or alter people’s views on the game significantly. This is because Immortals of Aveum had already seen substantial discounts about four months after its release, which suggests poor initial sales.
The problems that arose following the release of Immortals of Aveum caused Ascendant Studios to let go of nearly half their workforce shortly after. Despite this, the game went on to receive further updates, addressing bugs and incorporating enhancements like HDR support over time.
Part of the financial downfall of the game “Immortals of Aveum” may have been due to the ongoing struggles in the gaming industry, but the game also received significant criticism from some within Ascendant Studio itself. In an interview, a former studio developer admitted that the game was overambitious in its scope. They claimed that the game had a budget of $125 million, with $40 million spent on marketing, and it was the studio’s first project. The developer also criticized the game for being a single-player FPS title in today’s market, arguing that this was a poor decision given that multiplayer is what generally keeps games in this genre popular.
