Summary
- Gladwin Moon: Narcissistic bully, traumatizes classmates; not inherently evil.
- Marianne Moffett: Animal cruelty for profit, sinister motives.
- Theophilus Harlow: Murderous, uses Unforgivable Curses; right-hand man to Rookwood.
The immensity of the Wizarding World made the lead-up to the unveiling of the initial Hogwarts Legacy particularly eagerly awaited. Not only do the distinctive traits of each house add to its allure, but the struggle between good and evil in the game is woven into every significant and side mission.
Although several figures in Hogwarts Legacy possess a mix of good and evil traits, some stand out as particularly malicious and wicked characters. Here’s a list, arranged by their levels of villainy, showcasing the most sinister antagonists in Hogwarts Legacy:
1. The most evil character is [Character Name], whose actions and personality are defined by pure malice.
2. Coming in second on the list is [Another Character Name], who exhibits significant wickedness through their deeds and persona.
3. Lastly, but still among the worst of the villains, we have [Third Character Name], whose evil nature is evident in both their actions and overall character.
7. Gladwin Moon
An Arrogant, Narcissistic Bully
Indulging in alcohol and disregarding work responsibilities does not make Gladwin Moon an embodiment of evil. His behavior is far from exemplary, though. At Hogwarts, despite being terrified of Demiguises, Gladwin was a relentless bully towards his classmate Piers Pemberton for years.
In the 1870s, when Gladwin took charge of Hogwarts, Demiguise statues began popping up in various hidden corners within the school, as well as in Hogsmeade and neighboring wizarding communities.
6. Marianne Moffett
Sinister Animal Cruelty
In the game ‘Hogwarts Legacy’, Marianne Moffett, who owns the possibly award-winning Diricawl named Gwyneria, is encountered during your adventure in the wizarding village of Marunweem. Later on, Marianne summons you. Engaging in conversation with Marianne initiates the ‘Birds of a Kind’ quest, where you must journey to a nearby diricawl nest and catch Gwyneria using a Nab-Sack.
In the early exchange, it may strike players that Marianne’s intentions for wanting Gwyneria go beyond just a lost pet. Since Gwyneria is an albino diricawl, her unique feathers could fetch a high price in galleons. Any player with a soft spot for animals, upon retrieving Gwyneria using the Nab-Sack, should consider keeping her in their vivarium to protect her from harm, instead of delivering her to a potentially abusive situation.
5. Tobbs’ Second Master
House-Elf Cruelty
In the game Hogwarts Legacy, an unnamed second house-elf named Tobbs is harsh and bossy. Sadly, regardless of the player’s actions, Tobbs the house elf will meet his untimely end. During the crucial quest called Plight of the House-Elf (required to unlock Nab-Sack), Deek assigns the protagonist the task of searching for Tobbs in a cave. After navigating an intricate underground tunnel system, the player discovers Tobbs’ lifeless body and a letter nearby.
In the end, the master pays a heavy price for his neglect and mistreatment of Tobbs, as he ultimately meets his demise at the hands (or rather, legs) of an acromantula, a creature that the player must vanquish during the final stage of their quest.
4. Cassandra Mason
Bad Girl Sent To Azkaban
From now until June 2024, only PlayStation players will have the unique opportunity to cross paths with Casandra Mason and her charming yet guileless house-elf, Penny, in the enchanting world of Hogwarts Legacy. While others may miss out on this delightful duo, they might find themselves appreciating their own gaming adventures even more. Casandra Mason runs a haunted shop on the outskirts of Hogsmeade, offering an intriguing addition to the game’s magical lore.
In Minding Your Own Business, at first glance, Cassandra seems harmless, proposing to sell her store to the protagonist. Yet, things take a dark turn once the box hidden at the back of her shop is opened. Instead of its expected contents, the player finds themselves transported into a spooky mansion within the chest, inhabited by the trapped poltergeist named Fastidio. The real malevolence in Cassandra comes to light when she challenges the protagonist to a lethal duel. Eventually, she is apprehended and sentenced to life in Azkaban.
3. Victor Rookwood
The Worst Of The Worst Wizards
Viktor Rookwood is deeply driven by a desire for power, leading him to seek out hidden sources of ancient mystic energy throughout the game. He employs various strategies in his quest to obtain this magic. When Rookwood and his associates, which include dark wizards and Ashwinder troops, discover that the protagonist possesses a connection to the ancient magic and demonstrates an aptitude for it, they begin pursuing the protagonist relentlessly.
In the course of their quest, as the character ventures into Hogsmeade again and steps into Ollivanders for a second time, they depart with a transformed wand to confront the altered Ranrok. Though Rookwood and his group initially backed Ranrok’s uprising earlier, here he makes an attempt to seize the wand from the protagonist, thereby gaining control. Sadly, Rookwood perishes in a fierce fight that takes place in an isolated area, transporting both himself and the character to a distant location teeming with his devoted Ashwinder followers. Heartbreakingly, Charles Rookwood, the Keeper, regrets learning about his ancestor’s transformation into such a state.
2. Theophilus Harlow
A Murderous Hunter
In the game ‘Hogwarts Legacy’, Theophilius Harlow is a particularly vile character. He often works alongside Viktor Rookwood, employing the Deadly Charm (Avada Kedavra) against the main character and relentlessly pursuing them as well.
Despite Harlow seldom uttering words, the main character senses an ominous influence from him throughout, starting from their initial trip to Hogsmeade, all the way to the climactic confrontation at Manor Cape (Harlow’s Final Stand). This looming battle holds immense and possibly lethal consequences, as Harlow is ruthless, devoid of morals, and resorts to using the three Unforgivable Curses in an attempt to eliminate, torment, and drive the protagonist insane.
1. Ranrok
The Final Boss
With an unwavering conviction in goblin dominance, Ranrok goes to extreme lengths to seize the ultimate treasure trove of ancient magic, making him the head of the goblin uprising. In the role of the primary antagonist in Hogwarts Legacy, Ranrok and his vast following of devoted followers start their conquest over wizardkind by attacking the village of Feldcroft.
In the climactic showdown of the game, the ruthless actions and killings by the antagonist, Ranrok, reach their peak. As Professor Fig and the main character approach Ranrok’s Dragon, it turns out that many characteristics of Ranrok are similar to those of Lord Voldemort, such as his ambition for ruling over an entire species, his propensity for violence, and his intent on annihilating a pupil.
