For some time, we were left guessing what would follow Ghost of Tsushima, but then came the surprising announcement of Ghost of Yotei! This sequel jumps an impressive 300 years into the future with a completely new protagonist – a bold move that took many fans by surprise. Looking back, it seems less unexpected knowing Sucker Punch’s penchant for innovation and pushing boundaries.

Over time, Sucker Punch has built up some robust gaming franchises. The beloved Sly Cooper series often brings back fond memories from PlayStation’s mascot era, but its subsequent franchise, Infamous, paved a new direction for Sucker Punch. But let’s face it, Jin’s story feels best told as a standalone masterpiece. Sucker Punch’s knack for crafting new narratives and eras within Japan ensures that the franchise remains vibrant and evolving, promising countless years of captivating gaming experiences. So, introducing Atsu and the Ghost of Yotei setting seems like a bold, refreshing move instead of potentially overexposing Jin and risking him becoming too familiar.
