This remained consistent throughout Boruto, until a completely new eye technique called the Kokugan entered the scene. Originally wielded by Isshiki Otsutsuki, the Kokugan is an exceptionally rare visual ability belonging to the Otsutsuki clan.

Before the arrival of Kokugan, the Rinnegan stood as the pinnacle of power, undisputed due to the diverse abilities it possessed, which no other dojutsu could match. Originally possessed by Isshiki Otsutsuki, it was later acquired by Kawaki due to his Karma Mark. The Kokugan boasts two distinct abilities: Sukunahikona and Daikokuten. These powers complement each other, granting the user an almost unbeatable status when used together.

The power of Sukunahikona, belonging to Kokugan, enables the manipulation of inanimate objects, reducing them to microscopic proportions. This ability might appear straightforward at first glance, but its applications are quite versatile. It proves beneficial for defense, as users can also reduce themselves to small sizes. In addition, when an object is restored to its original size, it becomes a potential offensive weapon against adversaries. Isshiki, for instance, employed diminished rods that upon expansion would instantly pierce his foes.

The Sukunahikona represents a hidden skill belonging to Isshiki. This skill has the unique ability to diminish nearly any object, and just as quickly, return it to its original state.

When Sukunahikona and Kokugan’s power, Daikokuten, are used together, they become exceptionally lethal. Daikokuten grants the user the capacity to stow any item within a pocket dimension, much like Obito’s Kamui. However, there’s a unique twist: time stands still in this dimension, and it can only be opened by the user themselves. Recently, Isshiki has been observed utilizing these abilities in unison, catching enemies off guard by deploying stored objects as weapons, which he expands back to their original size from a diminished state, thereby causing injury.

How Does the Kokugan Compare to the Rinnegan?

As a fervent fan, I’ve noticed that while the Rinnegan and Kokugan share some underlying principles, their powers and techniques are remarkably distinct. The Rinnegan is like a versatile dojutsu, offering skills tailored for offense, defense, and even traversing dimensions. The true might of the Rinnegan has been vividly displayed by credible users such as Sasuke, Madara, and Nagato, with each user employing the Rinnegan in unique ways that set them apart.

Sasuke could be the most powerful Rinnegan user, but Madara’s manipulation of the eye technique demonstrated the full potential of the ocular jutsu. This power spanned from raining meteors down from the heavens to nullifying all ninja techniques through the Paths of Pain. The Rinnegan also boasts interdimensional travel, making it easy for users to retreat from battle or even reach distant opponents. In contrast, the Kokugan is somewhat limited in its capabilities. However, it compensates greatly with the versatile uses of both Daikokuten and Sukunahikuna.

Although Sasuke might be the strongest Rinnegan user, Madara’s handling of the eye technique displayed the complete range of the ocular jutsu’s capabilities. Sakuna Hikounen and Daikokuten are potent abilities that, when wielded skillfully, can overpower a multitude of opponents simultaneously. It’s fascinating to witness the Kokugan user unleashing a relentless barrage of attacks, almost overwhelming their foes.

On the one side, the Rinnegan is a multifaceted eye technique that boasts powerful abilities and divine powers. But it’s crucial to remember that the potency of the Rinnegan is heavily influenced by its user, as shown in the differences among users. The Rinnegan excels in ninjutsu and genjutsu techniques, making it less effective against enemies who rely on ninjutsu absorption. In contrast, the Kokugan has an advantage in this aspect because its powers are resistant to ninjutsu absorption. Given that most of its attacks are physical, the Kokugan proves to be highly efficient at subduing opponents effortlessly.

Between the Rinnegan and the Kokugan, neither can definitively be called stronger due to their unique strengths and weaknesses. The Kokugan may have a slight advantage in direct combat because of its stealthy skills and the ability to instantly incapacitate foes with rapid attacks. Yet, it’s important to remember that each Dojutsu’s power largely depends on the user’s skill level. Exceptional users can make either the Rinnegan or Kokugan highly formidable.

Isshiki and Sasuke’s Battle Reveals the Power of Both Ocular Techniques

The Battle Showcased the Two Dojutsu In Action

In the anime series ‘Boruto’, there’s a scene where the Rinnegan and Kokugan clash, providing audiences with a clearer understanding of which eye power is stronger. Even though Jigen’s body was weakened, Isshiki managed to overpower both Naruto and Sasuke in a confrontation. His Kokugan skills, Sakunahikona and Daikokuten, proved more than capable of overpowering Naruto while he was in Kurama Mode and Sasuke when using his Rinnegan.

In the heat of the battle, I witnessed firsthand the breathtaking harmony of the Kokugan’s diverse capabilities, as Isshiki unleashed a whirlwind of attacks on Sasuke by conjuring immense objects from his Daikokuten. To add to the surprise, he summoned black cubes that erased his own chakra signature, making him even more elusive than before! Although this battle between Sasuke and Isshiki might not have showcased the full potential of their dojutsus, particularly since Sasuke didn’t fully utilize the Rinnegan, it certainly hinted at the immense power that the Kokugan holds in skilled hands. While we may never know for certain which dojutsu reigns supreme, this encounter undoubtedly underscores the Kokugan as a formidable ocular technique, solidifying its place among the strongest Dojutsus in the Boruto series.
