Kinetic Games, the developer behind Phasmophobia, has revealed their 2025 plan for this chilling game. This outline includes exciting advancements like revamped map designs, an improved journal system, a fresh ghost-hunting device, and much more!

Developers have unveiled plans for Phasmophobia’s upcoming features on their official website, promising an exciting year filled with brand-new maps, spooky seasonal elements, and significant game overhauls for the popular cooperative horror game.

We’ve been gearing up again and making ready for an eventful year ahead, not just for us but also for Phasmophobia. Today, we’re thrilled to share a glimpse of our Year Plan, outlining our projects, setting timelines for our first significant update, and more!

Refreshed Ghost-Hunting Experience in Phasmophobia

The Chronicle update is one of the significant changes anticipated in the game’s diary system. It swaps out the photo area with a Media tab, which will manage all your audio clips, videos, and pictures.

Making a record of eerie ghostly sounds just got simpler with the developers introducing a Sound Recorder tool! You’ll be able to check it out regularly for possible proof, though the specific release date in March is still undisclosed.

The option for complete character personalization has been postponed until 2026, however, the Player Character Refresh feature will be available this year to update animations, models, and movement systems. This allows for more creative freedom when creating characters, enhancing immersion, and overall gameplay, as you patiently wait for the full customization features to arrive.

Fresh Haunts Await Seasonal Events

Kinetic Games has hinted at a fresh, unique small map that’s unlike anything within the current intellectual property. Meanwhile, existing maps are set for an upgrade, with the initial update focusing on enhancing the Bleasdale Farmhouse compound, structure, and aesthetics, which is scheduled for March 2025. Further updates for Grafton Farmhouse and 6 Tanglewood Drive will follow at a later time.

Last year, the seasonal events in Phasmophobia were well-received by players, and their feedback aided Kinetic Games in making enhancements for 2025. The Blood Moon Cult event for Halloween and Krampus’ Winter’s Jest for December will now feature weekly changes to the game map.

Phasmophobia’s Rise to a Multiplayer Powerhouse

In 2020, Phasmophobia made a big splash in the gaming community with its unique ghost-hunting mechanics and chilling cooperative play. Initially released on PC as an early access game, it later became available on consoles during the recent Halloween season.

In just a few months after its debut, the game managed to sell more than a million copies, even with some initial setbacks at launch. Now, it’s skyrocketed in popularity, becoming one of the top-selling multiplayer horror games ever, with over 22 million copies sold across various platforms.

Going forward, Kinetic Games aims to significantly overhaul the terrifying aspects of the game with an ambitious Horror 2.0 update planned for 2026. In time, Phasmophobia promises to offer a variety of new maps, enhanced customization options, and possible expansions tailored for ghost hunting enthusiasts.
