In simple terms, the game Phasmophobia has shared its upcoming content strategy for the years 2025 and beyond. This plan includes adding fresh content, improvements to current game maps, and special events that coincide with different seasons.
For quite some time now, a chilling paranormal horror game developed by Kinetic Games from the UK has been captivating players worldwide. Since it launched in early access in September 2020, it has racked up an impressive 20 million sales on PC systems. After four years, the game, named Phasmophobia, finally jumped to consoles, premiering on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S right before Halloween 2024.
Now that Phasmophobia is available on all its intended platforms, Kinetic Games is fully committed to enhancing and refining their successful title. To achieve this goal, they recently disclosed a roadmap detailing their plans for Phasmophobia up to 2025 and beyond. For significant updates, the first one on the schedule is called Chronicle. This update will enrich Phasmophobia by incorporating a Sound Recorder feature. As the name implies, this new tool allows players to record audio to aid in their ghost-hunting endeavors. The device will provide visual cues indicating the direction of sound sources. When a player gets close enough to one of these sounds, the gadget will automatically start recording. All recordings can be found in the Journal for later reference.
Phasmophobia Content Roadmap for 2025 and Beyond

- Major updates: Chronicle, Player Character Overhaul
- Maps and reworks: Bleasdale Farmhouse, Grafton Farmhouse, new small map
- Seasonal events: Easter, Halloween, holiday season 2025
- Releasing in 2026: Horror 2.0 update, House map reworks, more seasonal events
2025 will bring a significant transformation to player characters in the game Phasmophobia. The revamped models will boast higher-quality textures and smoother animations, along with a few minor adjustments. However, the character customization overhaul that was initially teased won’t be part of this update but is now scheduled for 2026. This allows the developers to dedicate their full attention to the Horror 2.0 update, which signifies the conclusion of Phasmophobia’s early access phase. The 2026 update may also address the infamous “bendy backs” bug, although some dedicated players have expressed a preference for it and even requested that it remains in the game.
Phasmophobia Is Getting a New Map in a Unique Location
In 2025, certain Phasmophobia maps such as Bleasdale Farmhouse and Grafton Farmhouse are slated for renovation. Additionally, developer Kinetic is aiming to launch a new map by the end of this year. Although specifics about the forthcoming level haven’t been disclosed yet, they hinted that it will be compact and offer a distinctive setting that doesn’t currently exist within the game, adding an element of mystery.
As an ardent fan, I’m eagerly anticipating that the PC and console versions of Phasmophobia will get their updates simultaneously. The game’s console adaptations have already made a massive impact, selling over 2 million units within their first three months on sale.
