This approach meant doing away with predefined quests and non-player characters (NPCs), which was an intriguing choice for a well-known role-playing game series.
To ensure a sandbox game similar to that functions effectively, it’s essential to offer players an abundance of activities and opportunities for interaction, something that Fallout 76 did not execute well.
Consequently, the landscape of Fallout 76 turned out to be drier than planned, combined with technical glitches and contentious live-service strategies, led to a rapid decline in player engagement.
Gradually, Bethesda managed to rescue the game from its live-service rut with a series of upgrades. As expected, the most significant enhancement came in the form of introducing Non-Player Characters (NPCs), thereby breathing life into the once lifeless wasteland.

It became evident that Duke, once an iconic figure, was merely a faint whisper of his former self.

As I dove into my latest gaming adventure, the cold slap of reality hit me square in the face. In just a few short days, the peak concurrent players on Steam couldn’t even muster 700, and it looked like things weren’t going to pick up anytime soon.
Dissatisfied gamers expressed their worries regarding both the graphics and the mechanics, ultimately prompting the publisher to cease operation of the game merely two weeks after its debut.
