The animated TV show titled Arcane was one of the top-performing series on Netflix. Interestingly, even though it received high ratings and positive feedback from viewers, it concluded following Season 2, and one of its main actors expressed their shock at this unexpected outcome.

The animated show, titled “Arcane,” which is based on “League of Legends,” ran for two seasons on Netflix. It won many hearts due to its stunning graphics and engaging plotline. However, even though fans wanted more episodes, the creators chose to conclude the narrative after season 2. One of the main actors expressed surprise as they believed there would be another season, as that was not initially announced.

Ella Purnell, who provided the voice for the beloved yet complex character Jinx in the show, confessed that she wasn’t aware if there would be more episodes beyond two seasons. She found out about the ending just a few days before her last recording session when she read the script during MegaCon (as reported by ScreenRant). Surprisingly, it was only until she read the script that she realized Arcane Season 2 was the final season. She had to contact her agent to confirm this news because she thought there would be a third season, and unfortunately, her suspicions were confirmed – the series was indeed ending after Season 2.

After reading the script, I found myself surprised, thinking we were doing another season. So, I reached out to my agent who initially responded, “Oh, no, not again, let me find out about that.” Later, he informed me, “Well, it turns out it’s already finished. I didn’t know about it.

Speaking about her time on Arcane, Purnell expressed that it didn’t significantly impact her life due to the extended recording process over several years, with only monthly sessions lasting four hours. She mentioned that she often struggled to remember events in between and felt a “little more pressure.” Whenever she returned to the recording booth, she experienced both excitement and apprehension, fearing she had forgotten all her skills. In simpler terms, she always worried about forgetting how to act, but eventually managed to get back into it. Showrunner Christian Link revealed earlier why they concluded Arcane after two seasons. As he explained, this was part of their initial plan to avoid overdoing the series and running out of creative resources, potentially compromising the story they wanted to tell.

Arcane explores the struggle between the idyllic city of Piltover and the oppressed underground region of Zaun. It also delves into the complex relationship between Vi (played by Hailee Seinfeld) and Jinx (Purnell). Once inseparable, their friendship disintegrated, causing the once innocent and guileless girl Jinx to transform into a ruthless and lethal outlaw. The series culminates with Jinx giving up her life to save Vi. Whether she perished or survived after plummeting from a ledge remains unclear. This ambiguous conclusion invites fans’ speculation, and the director hinted that it was left open-ended. Regarding Jinx’s fate, Linke stated, “That seems to be where I’ll end things.” Despite Arcane Season 2 serving as the series finale, the creator has promised additional spinoffs.

Arcane streams on Netflix.
