While traversing Friendship Island within the game “Hello Kitty Island Adventure”, you’ll encounter sparkling treasure chests with a marine theme, known as Radiant Chests. Unlike the chests involved in your island quests or those containing Bubble Wand crafting plans, these remain sealed. Instead, they require an ocean-themed key to be opened. Such keys can be found near a specific plant in Rainbow Reef.

How to Get Coral Keys
Keys themed after the ocean, or Coral Keys, can be acquired at the Waste Processing Facility in Rainbow Reef. To get there, travel northwest from the Comedy Hall. You’ll come across a seahorse racing minigame (represented by rings around a statue), and shortly after that is the Waste Processing Facility. Alternatively, you can reach it by swimming eastward from the Cozy Islands Mailbox and diving into the water.
To obtain Coral Keys, gather and recycle debris scattered around Rainbow Reef. This waste is often found along the route connecting Comedy Hall to the Recycling Facility. The trash will reappear every 5 minutes, or you can prompt a new respawn by utilizing an Island Bouquet.
It’s uncertain exactly how much trash you need to recycle to obtain one Coral Key. However, recycling trash may reward you with a pouch of Black Dye. As a precaution, recycle at least 10 pieces of trash and check if it results in a Coral Key.

How to Start “Reef Revival” Quest
You won’t be able to utilize the Recycling Facility until you finish the “Reef Revival” mission. However, you can only access this mission once you fulfill these prerequisites:
- Completing “Comic Relief” and fixing the Mermaidifier.
- Completing “Open the Nature Preserve.”
- Reach level 11 friendship with Hello Kitty.
After completing all the previous steps, locate Keroppi at the pier close to Chococat and the Resort Gate. Accompany Keroppi to Rainbow Reef and the Recycling Plant. From there, you will have to gather 10 items of trash to give to the plant. You might already possess 10 items, but it’s always a good idea to collect more just in case.
At the Recycling Plant training session, you will receive a set of Coral Spores, specifically one kind called Coral Spores. Later, you have the option to plant these spores in vacant beds within Rainbow Reef. The type of coral you select for growth will determine which unique fish species it attracts.
Once you’ve unlocked the Recycling Plant, it’s important that you continue gathering and recycling the trash in Rainbow Reef. Over time, you’ll receive a Coral Key as a reward. However, do be aware that each Coral Key can only be used once, so you’ll need to acquire one key for every chest in Island Adventure.

However, don’t forget to explore the icy caverns of Peak Island and Cloud Island too, as you might find some hidden treasures there. These radiant chests hold recipes and furniture pieces, which can be used to decorate cabins for special visitors.
