Red Dead Redemption 2’s Most Shocking Hidden Secrets Revealed!

Red Dead Redemption 2 is an expansive title, with new discoveries constantly waiting around every corner. However, even with its grand size, there are still some elements that didn’t make it into the final version of Red Dead Redemption 2. Among the cut content, there are certain aspects that truly pique curiosity and should be shared with fans who hold a deep affection for this remarkable game.

In Red Dead Redemption 2, the most notable omissions encompass a variety of captivating missions, peculiar character designs, entire map areas deleted, and undiscovered creatures for the guidebook. The excised content in Red Dead Redemption 2 is extensive, so peruse below to uncover some intriguing tidbits.

8. Take a Trip to Mexico

Assets Show Plans for Sections of Mexico

As a gamer venturing through the world of Red Dead Redemption, if I’m able to bust out of New Austin, I stumble upon parts of Mexico that normally wouldn’t be reachable. Strangely enough, some aspects of the environment and layout still echo the original game. Although not much of Mexico is left in Red Dead Redemption 2, there are hidden lines of text hinting at Nuevo Paraiso being explorable, along with cut and low-resolution textures related to Mexican architecture.

It’s not surprising that the idea of Mexico in Red Dead Redemption 2 never fully materialized, given that development stopped early. Fortunately, a handful of skilled modders have been diligently working to reintroduce aspects of Mexico and Nuevo Paraiso into Red Dead Redemption 2.

7. Finding Princess Isabeau Katharina Zinsmeister

The Missing Princess Has a Character Model and a Mission

In Van Horn, there’s a missing person poster hanging outside the saloon that offers a $100 reward for locating Princess Isabeau Katharina Zinsmeister, who was abducted 15 years ago and is known by distinctive birthmarks on her right hand and left cheek. Even though an extensive worldwide search has been conducted, she isn’t present in the game, but her adult character model does exist.

It’s important to note that an adult version of Princess Isabeau is indeed a character in the game, and there are specific animations related to her being handed over to the sheriff of Annesburg and subsequently imprisoned. These animations might be general ones or they could be unique to Princess Isabeau Katharina Zinsmeister, given that she has been in America for 15 years. However, whether these events have led her to a life of crime is not explicitly stated in the game.

6. Uniquely Unused Animals & Fish

Monkeys, Bobcats, and Sharks All Feature as Unused Content

In West Elizabeth, players stumble upon a plush gorilla figure; however, they were led to believe they’d encounter real, living monkeys in the Guarma storyline instead. Although there isn’t a character model for monkeys in the game, it is known that there are audio files available featuring certain death sounds of chimps and monkeys. These sounds could have added an amusing touch if Arthur had to study or hunt primates.

In addition to monkeys, other peculiar creatures were initially planned for the game content, specifically models for sharks, which were intended to appear in the Guarma chapter. Interestingly, these shark models, along with accompanying compendium entries and two distinct variants, were created. However, they didn’t make it into the final version of the game.

5. The Iconic Blunderbuss

An Unfinished Model Exists For an Intense Weapon

Learning that the Blunderbuss was initially intended for Red Dead Redemption 2, even though it’s just a small scrap of unused content, is quite intriguing. The game offers an array of weapons already, but the Blunderbuss, which was one of the most enjoyable in the original Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare, could have added an extra layer of excitement. In that game, John Marston would have been able to blow up zombies into a red mist with this powerful weapon.

In a single blast, the Blunderbuss, despite carrying just one round, was incredibly powerful, often causing multiple enemies to be eliminated simultaneously due to its large muzzle. This weapon is featured in “Red Dead Redemption 2”, and there’s an uncompleted model as well, but it seems that it wasn’t made functional for the game, possibly because it might have seemed too absurd or humorous given the serious tone of the game.

4. The River Monster Mission

Arthur May Have Battled the Loch Ness Monster

One discarded subplot from Red Dead Redemption 2 centered around a mythical creature called the “River Monster,” hints of which can still be found within the game. Through leaked dialogue, we learn that this beast was intended to inhabit Flat Iron Lake and may have been connected to the mysterious disappearance of Jeremy Gill during his side-mission, titled “A Fisher of Fish.

It has been a while since people have learned much about the river creature, but for some time now, it’s been hypothesized that its design might have been adapted for use in GTA Online’s Cayo Perico Heist. In this mission, players can spot the Loch Ness Monster from afar during an escape sequence.

3. Arthur Can Visit New Austin

Cut Dialogue and Journal Entries Shows Arthur Could Have Gone West

In Red Dead Redemption 2, if players choose to travel west as Arthur Morgan, they will face relentless pursuit by Pinkertons and meet an instant death at the hands of an unseen sniper guarding all of New Austin. Regardless of Arthur’s efforts, he cannot venture into New Austin without repeatedly facing this tragic end.

Additionally, Arthur has voice lines for visiting the cholera-stricken town of Armadillo, along with some journal entries and sketches about notable sites in New Austin. Is it possible that these voice lines served as a backup for players who managed to reach New Austin by avoiding the invisible sniper, or was there an intention to send Arthur to Blackwater and other locations?

2. Eliza and Isaac

The Mother of Arthur’s Son Had a Larger Role to Play

Arthur Morgan had a son named Isaac, but during the game’s narrative, it is revealed that his son and Isaac’s mother were tragically murdered in a robbery for just $10. However, this tragic detail appears to have been added later, as there are audio logs, mission briefings, character models for Arthur’s wife Eliza, and even baby wrap models for Isaac found within the game files.

In a different phrasing, Eliza was initially intended to be a member of the Van der Linde gang and even had unique missions assigned, such as those found in the Epilogue. However, it’s unclear why this aspect was removed from the game. A possible explanation might be that the scene where Eliza and Arthur mourn Isaac after he freezes to death in Colter Chapter could have been too grim and somber for the beginning of the game.

1. Strange Character Models

Many PEDs Are Disturbing – From Deformed Hillbillies to Neanderthals

By virtue of the PC edition of “Red Dead Redemption 2” and the availability of certain game files via Rampage Trainer, players can exchange their character models or summon distinctive ones. This allows them to discover some intriguing visuals that didn’t make it into the initial release, such as a living Neanderthal.

Among the fascinating character designs, it’s not just Neanderthals that stand out; there’s also a hillbilly with an asymmetrical physique, and a giant from Ambarino who dwarfs Bertrum in size. Many unique, unseen-in-game character models exist, leading to speculation as to why they were excluded from the game if they were already completed.
