Prioritize Food Yields & Food Resources

When establishing a new settlement, the potential outputs from all the tiles where you can place your population will be shown. In Civilization 7, most tiles yield Food, except for specific Natural Wonders and Mountains. However, some tiles produce much more than others, particularly if you have certain Warehouse structures to enhance their yields.
Keep an eye on the green Food symbol located above each tile. If a tile contains more than four Food items, they will be represented as a single large green Food icon with a number inside indicating the quantity. For instance, a tile showing a Food icon with the number “6” inside means it will produce 6 Food units per turn when worked on.
In addition, there are numerous valuable resources available that can help increase your food supply in each Era. During the Ancient and Exploration Periods, you can produce food by placing Cotton, Dates, or Fish resources within your settlement. In the Modern Age, having Spices, Sugar, Wine, or the Truffles Factory resource will aid in boosting your food production.
- In the Antiquity Age, try to pick up Cotton (2x Food), Dates (2x Food), and Fish (3x Food)
- In the Exploration Age, Cotton and Dates are worth 1x more Food each, and Fish is worth 5x Food

Research Techs That Unlock Food Bonuses

In every era, there are particular Technologies that can boost food production across your settlement for various buildings. For instance, during the early stages of Antiquity, the first three Technologies (Animal Husbandry, Sailing, Pottery) enhance the food output from specific types of cultivated lands within your settlement.
When studying Technology or Civics, hover your cursor over each choice to find the golden ‘+’ symbol, which signifies immediate benefits once the Tech or Civic is completed. Some of these offer flat Food bonuses on specific types of tiles and structures, making them beneficial if you’re facing Food scarcity; in such cases, prioritizing these options ahead of others may be advantageous.
Settle New Towns – Then Swap Town Focus

A highly effective strategy for increasing the number of players in the popular game “Civ 7” is by establishing numerous new Settlements. When these Settlements reach a population of 7, you’ll have the ability to change the Town’s Focus. By altering the focus towards Agricultural or Fishing towns, the Food produced will be redirected to your neighboring Cities rather than being used for that town’s growth.
As a devoted enthusiast, I wouldn’t hesitate to propose an intriguing strategy: Allow your town to expand its population slightly, keeping it as a Thriving City.
