In the end, Dexter finds himself face-to-face with Aaron Spencer (Patrick Dempsey) on his murder table. However, rescuing young Nicky is of utmost importance, so he lets Spencer go. Chasing after him, Dexter tracks down Nicky’s location and a struggle ensues. During the fight, Spencer attempts to drown Nicky, but Dexter manages to intervene at the last second. To summon help, he fires a flare signal into the sky. Spencer escapes and makes his way to his ex-wife’s house, but Dexter eventually catches up with him, takes him out on a boat, murders him, and disposes of his body in the ocean.
In another location, Dexter encounters Harry, who expresses pride in Dexter for his actions that saved Nicky and handled Spencer. The Morgan family then dines together, celebrating Dexter’s new role as a full-time forensic analyst at Miami Metro, with Debra announcing her intention to join the police academy. As they dance at the restaurant, Brian Moser watches from afar, contemplating the family he might have had.
What Happens In Dexter: Original Sin Season 1?
In the current storyline, Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) is severely wounded by a gunshot, sending him hurtling towards death. As he struggles to stay alive, Dexter’s life plays out in flashbacks, and we journey back to 1991 where Dexter (Patrick Gibson), then a pre-med student, eagerly awaits his first kill. With his adoptive father, Harry Morgan (Christian Slater) suddenly falling ill, Dexter discovers that his nurse is attempting to poison him with an overdose of medication. In a bid to follow the code he’s been taught and experience his first kill, Dexter takes her life, but the situation doesn’t go as smoothly as planned, leading to a struggle. He disposes of the body in the Everglades and continues targeting those on his kill list while adhering to Harry’s principles.
In the course of committing a series of murders, Dexter secures an internship in forensics at Miami Metro Police Department, where he encounters Vince Masuka, played by Alex Shimizu, and his supervisor Tanya Martin (Sarah Michelle Gellar). His colleagues, Angel Batista (James Martinez) and Bobby Watt (Reno Wilson), have a penchant for donuts over healthier options. Dexter manages to blend in while concealing his inner darkness from them. He becomes deeply involved in two major cases: a gruesome serial killer investigation, led by Harry Morgan and Maria LaGuerta (Christina Milian), and the abduction and murder of a boy named Jimmy Powell. The situation escalates when Captain Miami Metro’s son, Nicky, becomes a victim of the kidnapper. A shocking twist reveals that the serial killer is Dexter’s brother Brian Moser, and the kidnapper is actually Aaron Spencer, who is seeking revenge on his estranged wife for ending their marriage. The flashbacks from the 1970s offer insights into the events leading up to Laura Moser’s murder, as Harry Morgan works tirelessly to protect her and her sons, Dexter and Brian, from the cartel.
