- Fans shouldn’t expect Switch 2 news until April 2.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the much-anticipated Nintendo Direct in February 2025. Despite the silence from Nintendo so far, a trusted source has fueled speculation that this event is indeed on the cards. Some of us are starting to wonder if it’s truly going to happen as rumored, given the passing halfway point of the month. Yet, there’s a strong sense in the gaming community that we might just hear something from Nintendo within the next fortnight.
Since mid-January, there have been rumors circulating that a Nintendo Direct might take place in February. One source even narrowed it down to either February 4th or 5th, considering Nintendo’s online service maintenance schedule. However, those dates have passed without any such event occurring. Yet, another reliable source has reassured Nintendo enthusiasts that a Direct is still likely this month.
On the 15th of February, Famiboards user PH Brazil stated that his insider information indicates a February Direct is still scheduled, in response to discussions about the anticipated presentation. It’s important to note that PH Brazil was the leaker who initially hinted at a February release for the next Nintendo Direct last month, providing no specific details other than the month at that time. He had accurately forecasted the August 2024 presentation as well, when Nintendo officially announced that Civilization 7 would launch on the Switch on day one and revealed that Pizza Tower was coming to the platform. This recent comment suggests that the information about the February 2025 Direct comes from the same confidential source.
A February 2025 Direct Is Still Happening, According to Prominent Leaker
It’s not just PH Brazil who’s suggesting a Nintendo presentation this month; gaming news insider Jeff Grubb also confirms that such an event is being planned for later in February. He adds that it’s likely to be either a Mini Direct or Partner Showcase, rather than a large-scale event. Given Nintendo’s announcement about revealing more details on the upcoming Switch 2 console in April, it seems reasonable that anything before then would be relatively small in scale.
It’s uncertain at this point what exactly the rumored February Direct will cover. If Grubb’s statements are accurate, fans might get a brief overview of third-party games arriving on the platform. However, there’s no news yet about any significant announcements for the presentation. Until Nintendo officially reveals more details, everything remains speculative.
