In many opinions, Dark Souls 3 stands out as the finest title within the trilogy due to its challenging array of powerful bosses, diverse range of armor options, and an abundance of strategic weapon choices for players to exploit.
During their gaming experience, players may choose diverse character builds, such as those focusing on Dexterity, Strength, Faith, or Intelligence for greater magic abilities, and Dark Souls 3 offers plenty of choices. Just like in previous versions, many bosses are vulnerable to status effects and elemental damage, making them easier to conquer. Here’s a list of some bosses in Dark Souls 3 that are weak to Fire.
6. Iudex Gundyr
The First Challenge Players Will Encounter

HP | 1,037 |
Drops | Coiled Sword, 3,000 Souls |
Location | Cemetery of Ash |
Players will initially uncover and traverse the Cemetery of Ash zone, which serves as the starting point of their adventure. While this initial section isn’t overly difficult, straying from safe paths may lead to encounters with a Crystal Lizard, adding a level of challenge to the game.
When players first meet Iudex Gundyr, they may realize regrettably that taking out the curled sword stuck in him was perhaps not wise. However, if players cleverly apply fire against him, the battle becomes significantly easier. The problem is, infusing weapons with fire can’t be done until after defeating Iudex Gundyr. So, unless using cheats or exploits, applying fire damage to him won’t be an option until NG+. However, a solid straight sword can still be quite effective in overcoming him even before that.
5. Vordt Of The Boreal Valley
Not Too Difficult, But For Newcomers, He Can Be Tricky

HP | 1,328 |
Drops | Soul of Boreal Valley Vordt, 3,000 Souls |
Location | High Wall of Lothric |
Compared to other bosses you face later in the game, Vordt of the Boreal Valley isn’t overly challenging. In fact, some might go as far as calling him an easy target. But keep in mind that players often encounter him early on when they may not be fully equipped or accustomed to dodging and anticipating attack cues. As a result, he can prove quite formidable at first.
If players wish to infuse their weapon with fire to experiment with this element against Vordt, the first opportunity they have to obtain a Fire Gem is at the Undead Settlement. However, since Vordt needs to be defeated before accessing this location, this creates a challenge. The sole workaround is to select a Fire Gem as a burial gift when creating your character and heading straight to Andre at the Firelink Shrine upon arrival. Given that Vordt can move quite swiftly, a long-range weapon like a halberd could prove beneficial in this situation.
4. Curse-Rotted Greatwood
One Of The Most Annoying Bosses In The Game

HP | 5,405 |
Drops | Transposing Kiln, Soul of the Rotted Greatwood, 7,000 Souls |
Location | Undead Settlement |
The Curse-Rotted Greatwood is a type of enemy that, though not overly challenging, can be incredibly irritating and frustrating to vanquish. To begin with, as players attempt to target its pustules, they are often swarmed by other enemies. Even when there are no other adversaries present, this tree-like foe moves erratically and unpredictably, making it difficult to accurately strike the pustules.
Employing a powerful Greataxe infused with a Fire Gem for burning down the Curse-Rotted Greatwood effectively can significantly simplify that tough boss battle.
3. Champion’s Gravetender & Gravetender Greatwolf
Challenging, But Not As Much As Other Bosses In The DLC

HP | Gravetender: 2,791, Greatwolf: 4,193 |
Drops | Valorheart, Champion’s Bones, 60,000 Souls |
Location | Painted World of Ariandel |
When players encounter both the Champion’s Gravetender and the Gravetender Greatwolf, they shouldn’t find them overly formidable. While these creatures can deliver powerful blows and skillfully dodge incoming attacks, players with sufficient expertise and potent weaponry should be able to handle them fairly easily.
In the realm of Dark Souls 3, there are some formidable foes that I’ve faced, and the Champion’s Gravetender and the Gravetender Greatwolf fall right in the middle. But here’s the twist: when players bring fire into the battlefield, things take a turn for the trivial. Suddenly, these once-daunting adversaries seem like they’re just waiting to be pushed over.
2. Aldrich, Devourer Of Gods
A Mid-Game Skill Check That Can Be Frustrating

HP | 4,727 |
Drops | Cinders of a Lord, Soul of Aldrich, 50,000 Souls |
Location | Anor Londo |
In no way is Anor Londo among the simplest zones found in Dark Souls 3. On the contrary, it teems with menacing Black Knights brandishing colossal swords, towering greatbows, and lethal long-range spears that can swiftly dispatch the Ashen One.
Given these circumstances, it’s logical to expect that the boss at the end of this zone will also present a tough test for players. While Aldrich may not be swift, he can unleash a torrent of arrows from his bow that can rapidly deplete a player’s health if they’re not nimble. To make this formidable encounter more manageable and claim another Lord of Cinder as victor, it would be wise to employ a powerful fire-infused weapon in the fray.
1. Nameless King
One Of The Toughest Bosses In The Entirety Of Dark Souls 3

HP | King of the Storm: 4,577, Nameless King: 7,100 |
Drops | Soul of the Nameless King, 80,000 Souls |
Location | Archdragon Peak |
To wrap things up, we come to the Nameless King. Kudos to FromSoftware for their wise decision to make this boss optional rather than a necessary skill-test or story progression hurdle. This battle unfolds in two stages. In the initial stage, players must eliminate the Nameless King’s faithful ally, the Storm King. After successfully accomplishing that task, they will face an even tougher test.
The Nameless King is swift, elusive, and possesses the strength of a freight train, making multiple encounters with him often result in player deaths. To engage in combat with the Nameless King, players must initially navigate their way to Archdragon Peak, a location that’s easy to overlook.
