At the latest PlayStation State of Play broadcast, Sonic Racing CrossWorlds was unveiled, and it’s arriving swiftly – so quickly, a mistake was even made during the announcement!
As reported by Sonic Paradise on their platform X, a quick glimpse at the official site for the forthcoming Sonic Racing game revealed the full list of characters set to appear in the game.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m pumped to share that we’re adding a whopping twenty-two characters to our racing game, making it the biggest lineup of any Sonic Racing title I’ve ever played! It’s going to be an epic ride!
What Characters Are In Sonic Racing CrossWorlds?
The current reported list of playable characters is:
Characters such as Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, and Amy are mainstays in the series. Additionally, Jet, Wave, and Storm, who are well-known for their appearances in the Sonic Riders games, are also present. The Deadly Six members Zavok and Zazz are included as well. Team Dark consists of Shadow, Rouge, and E-123 Omega, with Eggman, Egg Pawn, and Metal Sonic being other notable characters created by him.
I’m thrilled to share that alongside me, the Chaotix crew has joined the fray! We’ve got Vector, Charmy, and Espio on board. To make it a complete team, we’ve also got Blaze, Silver, Cream, and Big, bringing our total count to a whopping twenty-two characters!

In this game, you’ll find the biggest initial lineup of racers ever seen in a Sonic racing title, with even more characters being added following the release. Sega has highlighted that these additional characters will hail from beyond the Sonic universe.
With numerous other series available, SEGA’s upcoming decision is full of possibilities for speculation. However, given the early stage of development, it might be uncertain to both the team and us who may join later following the game’s release.
Currently, the release date for Sonic Racing CrossWorlds hasn’t been set yet, but eager players won’t have to wait much longer as they’ll soon get an opportunity to take it for a spin. In fact, this chance is coming up very shortly. The upcoming test is called a closed beta, and due to its limited nature, only a select group of players will be invited to participate in the process.
According to Sonic Stadium’s report, it appears that the upcoming closed test can only be accessed by PlayStation 5 (PS5) players. However, after the game’s official launch date passes, the game will be playable on not just PS5, but also on PlayStation 4 (PS4), Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and personal computers (PC).
