The manga “Cocoon” is inspired by real events from World War II. This anime production is under the leadership of Ina Yukimitsu at studio Sasayuri. Hitomi Tateno serves as the animation producer, and Kensuke Ushio contributes to the music composition for the anime. At this time, details about the cast have been kept under wraps, but Hikari Matsushima (known for her role in “One Piece”) has been confirmed to voice Mayu, with Marika Ito providing the voice for San. It’s expected that more cast members will be unveiled soon.
Cocoon is adapted from the manga with the same title penned by Machiko Kyō. This manga was initially published in Akita Shoten’s magazine dedicated to josei manga, called Elegance Eve. The first chapter of Cocoon was unveiled on March 26, 2009, and it concluded in May 2010. The individual chapters have been collected into a single volume.
